Lor Mee Smile May 14, 2013
Categories : Food Court | Noodles

This stall specializes more in Bak Chor Mee, but since I didn't feel like having it, I ordered their Lor Mee.

Lor Mee
(very sorry for the terrible photo as I didn't want to keep everybody waiting for me)

I actually find this lor mee quite nice even though it's not their main specialty. As you can see, there is alot of gravy which isn't too thick. I don't really like lor mee with thick gravy because I find it difficult to mix up the noodles with the sauce, and it can get dry. Luckily this isn't the case here. It is also served with lots of ingredients. I also tasted a slight tinge of cinnamon in the gravy, which was awesome.

Duck noodles Smile May 14, 2013

Duck Noodles
(sorry for the terrible picture; didn't want others to wait for me to start eating)

I saw a queue at this stall, and saw the duck dishes that other diners bought. It looked so generous and delicious that it tempted me to queue up too! Indeed, it didn't fail me. The flavour of the braised sauce was intense, and the texture of the noodles was delicate. The ingredients were generous, including lots of duck meat, bean sprouts and fish cake. The only regret was that I added too much chilli so it became a tad too spicy for me. So if you want to add chilli in your food at this stall, take note of the portion you add, and taste first before mixing everything together.

Chicken Cutlet Smile May 14, 2013

Chicken cutlet rice

The chicken cutlet tasted delicious, crispy and juicy. It was only fried after I placed my order, but I didn't wait too long for it.

As you can see, the amount of chicken is generous, but it would have been perfect for me if the rice wasn't so plain. However, a friend who ordered the same thing actually loved it, because the amount of juicy and crispy chicken cutlet given was so generous that there were enough to eat every single mouth of rice with it. I guess this is a case of different food preference. The vendor auntie was very smiley and friendly too.

Curry Puff Smile May 14, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Halal

Curry puff was the first thing I ever tried on Old Chang Kee's menu, and it is this very curry puff that brought Old Chang Kee to its success and popularity today.

2 curry puffs because 1 is just not enough.

When I'm mildly hungry but don't want to eat a full meal, curry puff is the best solution. Very easy to takeaway too!

My favourite part of the food is to get through the thicker parts of the skin at the corners, and get to the centre portion where there are egg, chicken and potato chunks! And I love how the ingredients inside the skin are always kept piping hot and moist; not too dry to eat. So delicious!

LENAS Smile May 14, 2013
Categories : American | Italian | European | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

This restaurant is a Modern American Italian concept restaurant under MOF, named after its founder Ms Lena Sim.

This is their signature drink - Iced Mint Tea.

They blended the mint leaves with the tea. It was my first time trying it, and I loved it. I have ever ordered Mint-flavoured bubble teas elsewhere before, and the mint syrup turned out so strong I felt like I swallowed a gulp of Colgate. But this Iced Mint Tea is nothing like that; it tasted very natural and not overpowering. Very refreshing!

Bruschetta

I wouldn't say this is the best Bruschetta I've ever eaten, but it is still good. Although the bread is a tad plain, the flavours of the toppings made up for it. I prefer the mushroom bruschetta better; more flavourful.

Salad

The vegetables were rather fresh and crunchy, and I love how the meat makes eating raw vegetables so much more interesting.

Carbonara

My favourite of all the dishes! It looks really appetizing especially when it's topped with the runny egg yolk. The best part has to be puncturing the egg yolk and mixing it up in the entire dish. It adds a new dimension to its taste. All carbonara dishes should be served this way!

Hotpot

This is the only oriental dish I tried. LENAS is a good venue for gatherings, so these oriental selections provide an alternative choice to those who don't fancy western food or who need their daily dose of rice. There're eggs, meat, mushroom and vegetables in the hotpot in generous portions, and in my honest opinion, tasted really delicious. It makes for a good well-balanced meal.
