Delicious Taiwanese Food Smile Jul 12, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Ramen | Brunch

The first time that i saw xi men jie was at downtown east pasir ris.I was glad that xi men jie came to the west side at westmall shopping centre which is more convenient for those residing at north west area.

There are main dishes to snacks to choose from.As for my dinner,i have chosen the braised pork rice(卤肉饭).The portion of minced braised pork belly is the most generous that i have seen as compared to other Taiwanese eateries in Singapore. The braised pork belly taste a little sweet and it goes very well with the rice, pickles and 1 full hard boiled egg.

I like Xi men jie concept because they have a choice of dine in or take away.

Dark chocolate cake Smile Apr 18, 2013

I was attracted by the sprinkled gold powder on this Guanaja cake. The bitter sweet chocolate cake come with layer of chocolate mousse, sponge cake and crunchy biscuit. The chocolate mousse is more to the gelatinous type rather than those airy type of mousse and this give a dense to the chocolate cake. The bottom of the cake consist of hazelnut crunchy biscuit and it give a good texture. The price is quite reasonable for this pretty decorated and delicious cake.

Traditional Laksa Smile Apr 18, 2013

My friend from hong kong was craving for Singapore laksa hence we went to the Junction 10 branch as it is less crowded on the weekends.

This bowl of laksa is serve with "lao shu fen" instead of the thick bee hoon. The "lao shu fen" absorb the laksa gravy better than thick bee hoon and every spoonful of it is flavorful. They replace the cockles with prawn. There's fish cake and laksa leaves which make the soup more fragrant. The laksa gravy is quite spicy and luckily we bought the laksa set that come with a barley drink.

Golden Roll Smile Apr 18, 2013

This is the golden roll sushi which look like a "dragon" and it is decorated with deep fried king prawn head and tail. The sushi is made up of deep fried coated king prawn wrap in the center and topped with mango slice and fish roes. The sweetness of the mango brings out the flavor of the king prawn and it has a complementing taste. The fish roes give an interesting texture too.

This is like the best combination of sushi i ever taste.

Dumpling noodles Smile Apr 18, 2013

I had this dumpling noodles for the first time.I ordered the dumplings with kway teow, the dry version and opted for chilli. The kway teow is not dry because the stall owner pour some soup in it with the chilli sauce. The dumplings taste very good as it contains big chunks of prawn, pork meat and water chestnut. The chilli is the sambal kind and it is mild spicy. The soup given is tasty and does not seem to add any MSG.
