Was craving for salmon sashimi so went to town for this! I always prefer eating sashimi at Ichiban boshi than Sakae sushi, so decided to try the one at centre point for my very first time. Ordered a salmon sashimi and it came with 7 pieces, but sadly it was quite small piece.sad Tried the mixed vegetable rolls as well, it looked attracting from the menu, as it was something like cucumber roll, but it came out a little too dry, texture so so only. I ordered Sansai chasoba as my main course. It was a very big portion of noodle and i think it was too much for one person. Soup was too little, so I had to eat the noodle quickly before it absorbed all the soup. It was not very good so I did not manage to finish it. My friend ordered the Kamo Kamameshi, which was a iron hot pot rice with smoked duck, assorted vegetables and poached egg. It came together with a small pot of broth, and it said that after eating half of the hot pot rice, mixed the broth in it and tried for another taste. From the rice to the meat, and followed by the broth, it was quite tasteless. You can only smell the strong taste of smoked duck, but when you bite and chew it, is was simply tasteless. Without any sauce or gravy, I would say a No to this dish. I don't think I will visit the same branch again. Because I knew the one in Clementi mall was much better!

Sushi airways is located on the 2nd floor of one corner shop in Baghdad street. Never expect a Japanese cuisine around this area, so wondering if is nice. Did some research from their website and read some reviews and think is worth a try. As I'm looking forward to meet the "air stewardess" and experience something different as well.

I did not make any reservation, although I know this place has limited seats. So me an friends walked in around 8pm and we were just lucky enough to have 3 counter seats. So we can actually see clearly how the chef prepare our food.

We ordered few dishes for sharing.

1. Salmon tataki $15
- something like a salad with salmon sashimi topped with fresh leaves, lettuce and refreshing sauce. A good appetizer to start with your meal.
2. Mango roll $30
-the mango roll was huge in size compared to normal size, came in 8 pieces. The stuffing was the rolled egg, topped with big slice of mango and lobster. Nothing special, and a little pricey.
3. Sashimi small size $58
- there were 6 different type of sashimi and came in 3 pieces each. There were salmon( very thick slice), yellowtail, tuna, scallop, prawns, and fish egg (first time trying, very special and was good, like eating oyster)
-the sashimi was incredibly fresh, every bite melt in your mouth.
4. Grilled fugu $16
-not many Japanese offer this dish, so why not ordering here since they have it!
-very chewy and nice

We only ordered hot green tea at $3 for each pax.

Guess what, we were offered free desserts after our meal although just a tiny glass, but it was so sweet of them!

Service was good, food was good. There's even 10% discount for UOB card holder.

Very big bowl of Dan Dan mian OK May 25, 2013

Categories : Noodles

This chinese restaurant served rice, noodle, porridge, dim sum.....something like Crystal jade. Me and my aunt came here for noodles! She ordered Dan dan mian in soup and I ordered their dry roast pork noodle. At first we wanted to order fried rice, but the customer next to us had a very very big dish of it, and I guess it was too big for us! We ordered another jellyfish appetizer.

The jellyfish appetizer consisted of shredded chicken, sliced carrot and jellyfish..was served cold, nothing very special about this dish. The Dan Dan mian was very big bowl. It covered with a lot of sesame and really had a strong taste of it. I wondered if it was a sesame soup? tongue Minced pork was placed at a side so you can mixed it well before eating. Besides, soup was a little spicy. The roast pork noodle looked like any of the hawker stall's noodle, did not attract me but I was wrong! It was very delicious. The meat was not fat, and skin very crispy. One thing good bout this restaurant was it offered different kind of chilies for the customer. I really enjoyed the green sliced chilies while eating roast pork noodle. It was crunchy and very fresh.

Unfortunately, they didn't served free water but cost $0.30. We might as well pay more for the refillable tea, $1.20 per person.

Brunch! OK May 14, 2013

Categories : Café

After renovation, this place looked brighter compare to last time. I came here for the sandwich and soup! It was around 11.15am, without the lunch crowd, me and my parents ordered sandwiches and a set of All-day breakfast.

Tried the daily soup, Moroccan spiced carrot soup! Spices blended very well and do not expect any chunks of carrot. Everything was finely blend and it was more to a tomato based soup.

As for the sandwiches, there were many choices out there. There were at least 5 different type of bread to choose from, such as Focaccia, Ciabatta and so on...Rosemary chicken was my favorite sandwich! Tried the golden pumpkin bread for the very first time and glad that it was perfectly good. Price around $8 and it was quite filling. The cranberry sauce in it was very appetizing and chicken was soft.
The smoked salmon sandwich was little disappointing because I think it was a bit saltish. Nothing special.
The all in breakfast cost at $13.80 came along with a cup of coffee. There were 2 sausages, a bacon, scrambled egg, sautéed mushroom and 2 slices of bread. I think it made a great breakfast! One thing to mention was the scramble egg taste good.

Unfortunately the service was so-so only. It could be due to lack of workers. There were few customers who came in later compliant about the late serving of food. But food wise, it was a healthy choice!

The after dinner sweet taste! OK May 09, 2013

Categories : Australian / New Zealand | Ice Cream and Gelato

After dinner, had a sudden crave for ice cream. Walked past this place and gave a try to their ice cream. I had an impression that this shop sells very milky ice cream, but since it's my first time, I did not really care about it so much. I ordered the large cup size, and allowed to choose 3 different flavours. I chose raspberry sorbet, durian vanilla and cookies and cream. Among the 3, I enjoyed raspberry sorbet the most. Strong taste and I loved the sourish of it! I found the durian , cookies and cream too sweet for me. I would say durian without vanilla would be nicer, like the one at Udders.
