Well, it may be fast food, but since this is a promotional 'time limited' item, its worth a review.

First of all, the chicken samurai burger alone cost $4.8 shocked For that price, you will be able to get a decent meal in any kopitiam. An extra value meal will cost $7.10, pretty expensive for the quality of food given.

The chicken samurai burger had a nice teriyaki sauce aroma with it, however, the size of the grilled chicken fillet was just too small for that price. The only uniqueness of this burger was the teriyaki sauce, but personally, i dont feel that it is worth the price (roasta burger from KFC is much better). sad

Dim sum at bao luo wan xiang OK Sep 20, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court | Dim Sum

I had the lotus leaf glutinous rice set with milk tea for $3.30. The glutinous rice was small but packed with pieces of mushroom n chicken. It had been steamed for a long time, which made the rice really soft n hot. It tasted great and would make a good tea time snack.

As for the milk tea, it was really diluted, lacking in tea flavor and milk taste. Diluting drinks as a method of cutting cost is definitely a turn off! sad

National Day dinner  OK Aug 10, 2013
Categories : Fusion | Café | Hotel | Kids-Friendly

I was there for the national day dinner themed buffet, which costs 88++ sgd, (but thankfully, with a 48% reservation, it eventually cost around 46++ sgd). Overall, the menu was limited but the food was okay. Tea and coffee were available as part of the buffet.

The cold seafood consisted of oysters (tasted very fresh), scallops (not so fresh), mussels (bad), salmon sashimi (average) and tiger prawns. There was also a small selection (about 4-5 types) of sushi, all of which tasted rather average. There was a mini salad bar and some decent appetizers like potato salad, soba noodle salad, etc. As for the hot food section, there was only around 4 dishes (stir-fried beef, mixed seafood, stir fried cabbage, braised duck with sea cucumber). Some local hawker food also made their presence - (roti prata, chicken rice, rojak, carrot cake, laksa), all of whcih, were pretty decent but not outstanding.

As for the desserts, there was a huge variety of them and most of them tasted great! However, the ice cream was a huge huge disappointment that tasted like cheap palm oil based ice cream.

Lastly, a selection of fruits, including jackfruit was available to cleanse the palate.

I might consider returning again as the service and ambience was good. But food wise, its variety is too limited to justify the price, even after discount.

dinner at ootoya Smile Oct 13, 2013

This place has quite a homely ambience which I like. The ambience was matched with the presentation of the food, which just makes one feel rather warm. However, prices are not really cheap though.

I ordered the ebi seiro set, which comprised of steamed rice with tiny shrimps, some grated pumpkin, pickles, miso soup and some cabbage soup.

The tiny shrimps were mildly flavored but still a joy to eat with the warm rice. The miso soup is one of the nicest I ever had, it was packed with some tofu and chicken bits too! As for the cabbage soup, well, I am not a fan of soggy overcooked cabbage, so I did not enjoy it.

Overall, the meal just makes one feel satisfied without the sin of health damaging 'bad food'.

I will definitely come back here again!

Ramen at men-ichi Smile Oct 13, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

This place can be rathered crowded even on a weekday night. The limited seating means that it is not a place for dwelling too long. Food is served rather promptly and tables are cleared pretty fast.

On this night, my partner and I ordered the shoyu tonkotsu ramen, which was approximately $15 each. It came with some slices of char siew, which was well-flavored. As for the soup, it was strong, without being too salty. The portion size was decent enough for a single person eating.
