good teochew muay OK Apr 30, 2013

Categories : Teochew | Porridge/Congee

This place is well-known amongst the local residents. There's always a long queue at dinner time, whether is it for takeaway or for dining in. We chose to dine in. I ordered a 'bao cai' or cabbage. This was good, with the cabbage being very crunchy after being fried. Excellent. I also ordered a plate of steaming hot otah. This is extremely popular with new batches coming out ever so often. The otah paste is great and the fishy taste is rather strong. I will be back for more!

Soya milk Smile Apr 30, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Ho Kee sells lots of stuff from paus to dumplings to....soya milk. I was thirsty so I bought a cup of warm soya milk. It was surprisingly good. The soya milk did not taste the least diluted. The soya taste was really strong and I certainly felt that it could rival soya bean sellers like Mr Bean in terms of soya taste. I also liked that they were rather generous with the amount they gave.

No. 1 Nasi Lemak OK Apr 30, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Kids-Friendly

Many know that when it comes to Adam Road's Nasi Lemak, there's always only No. 1.

If you queue long enough, then there's delicious nasi lemak to be had. The rice is extremely fragrant. The chicken wing is fried till golden brown and perfect. The ikan bilis are very crunch and the begedil is excellent with the potato extremely tasty. I also like the chilli sauce which has a tinge of sweetness.

not bad desserts OK Apr 24, 2013

This place serves up quite decent desserts at relatively affordable price. I ordered the chendol and the ice blend was really done just nice. The entire mixture was not overly sweet and I could taste some of the milk. There was this passion-fruit ice blended thingy and my friend said it was good too because there was real passion fruit (generous too). But do try the excellent chendol!

top notch chocolate Smile Apr 24, 2013

Awfully Chocolate serves up fantastic chocolate. There is little variety but they serve what they do best: chocolate. I got myself the Hei Ice Cream. The price of this ice cream blows the competition away: $5 for a scoop. But the taste is divine. I swear heaven probably serves up chocolate like this. The richness of the dark chocolate is indescribable. It is not too sweet unlike really cheap chocolate ice cream that has little chocolate but lots of milk and sugar. Unlike the commentators below, I won't be sharing this anytime soon.
