Not as good as before  OK Apr 19, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Bought the honey red tea instead of the usual milk tea that I always buy. Standards seem to be slipping with the tea not as well brewed as before. The proportion of honey to the tea was also too high which made the tea too sweet for my liking. The pearls also seemed over cooked because they are much harder than they should. My companion bought the honey green tea and that seemed slightly better although it seemingly tasted quite artificial. Gong cha used to be really good although not as good and generous as the Hong Kong ones. They need to buck up!

Healthy food OK Jul 25, 2013

If you have a craving at lunch time for a bowl of piping hot porridge, look no further than Zhen Zhen porridge. The porridge was well cooked and very gooey, and the fried shallots was really good. Dig deeper and one can find generous portions of fresh fish and pieces of chicken. If you are feeling slightly unhealthy, then go for the fried you tiao which goes really well with the porridge. For $3 per bowl, this is indeed a bargain good eat.

Brunch Smile Apr 30, 2013

The Line needs no further introduction. The oysters are excellent as always without having a really strong brine taste. What I tasted was sweetness. The sashimi is great as well because they are finely cut. If you like, you can also ask for salmon belly and they will gladly oblige. The dessert spread is also good with lots of different kuehs and cakes. There's also some kind of mixed ice cream stand where you pick out the ice cream flavours and toppings before they mix it up for you. Delicious.

rare porridge stall OK Apr 23, 2013

Looking for pig innards in porridge? You will realise that these are quite hard to find, given that Singapore and Singaporeans have become richer and more health conscious, thereby avoiding such 'cheap' and 'unhealthy' pig innards. What a pity. Depending on the freshness of the ingredients, the innards can be really delicious without tasting like the pig's insides. Sin Sin porridge serves a decent pigs entrails porridge with crispy deep fried pig intestines. Smooth porridge with well-seasoned fresh Pork unlike the many other stalls that serve up chilled air pork.

carrot cake OK Jun 08, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Hawker Centre

The newly renovated Changi Village Hawker Centre seems much brighter and the environment slightly more pleasant although the rustic feel seems missing. Anyway, we tried the white carrot cake today. It is excellent. The carrot cake was nicely fried till golden brown and very crispy. It is also not overwhelmed by flour and stuffed full with carrots. They were also relatively generous with the eggs. Will be back
