Not too bad OK Jul 30, 2013

Dan Dan mian is very much quintessentially a Chinese dish popular with many in the mainland. The quality of dan dan mian (noodles) is measured by how springy the noodles are, alongside the minced pork. Here, the noodles were relatively springy, although one may quibble about the length of these noodles. The minced pork itself was a tad too salty for my liking but the bowl of soup was pretty good. Not overly salty. For around 6 dollars, it's somewhat acceptable since it's a sit down place.

I came back again to have the basic tonkotsu ramen with lava egg, from Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King. This place allows customers to customize their ramen to some extent. One can choose from different levels of hardness of the noodle, strength of the soup etc. I chose the strongest taste for the soup, and the hardest possible noodle. The noodles itself was ok but the pork broth was much better than the chicken broth. The pork meat was also rather lean and melts in the mouth. This bowl of noodles costs around $17++.

Salads OK Jul 22, 2013

Fresh+ serves up healthy food, something popular amongst the professionals working in Raffles Place area judging by the length of the queues. The lettuce mix was pretty good, given its crunchiness and sweetness. There is quite a large variety of ingredients to choose from and also salad dressings. When mixed together, my salad combination seemed pretty decent. The egg was however rather forgettable for being much too soggy. The Snapple also seemed rather overpriced. For the medium sized salad, it costs around $7.60 whereas the drink costs around $4.

Avocado shake OK Jul 22, 2013

I was craving for something sweet, i.e a sweet dessert and donuts seemed like a good choice. I settled at J.Co Donuts where there was a queue during tea time. I ordered the Avocado Shake and it was pretty decent and thick as a shake although somewhat too milky. You can ask to tone down the milk if you want. As for the oreo donut, it was pretty decent. Not outstanding but just what an average donut should be: crispy enough with a decent topping of oreo bits. Everything cost around 7-8 dollars in total.

New cafe OK Jul 19, 2013   (Related Review)

Lola’s café is situated off Simon Road and is relatively simple café that is less pretentious than many new upstarts. We were recommended the chef’s special fish and chips which we found was slightly above average. The batter was good but a tad too oily. We also had the Lola’s big breakfast which was something that can be done at home by most, except that the bacon was excellent because it was fried just perfectly which meant that I could taste the sweetness of the caramelized fats. This warrants a next visit to try out their coffee. Chicken wings was also fantastically good.
