Immense expectations visiting this place! 3 michelin starred restaurant!! Boy were we expected coming to this place! We weren't exactly dressed in the most appropriate way for a restaurant of this calibre, but none of the other patrons were in blazers and suits and what-nots as well, so we didn't feel too out of place!

Had been craving for a good burger for a long, long time and i really hoped to satisfy that craving here, especially after the reviews i heard about this place! We were still slightly full, and were gonna get plenty more grub after this stop, so we were merely gonna just get one burger for the both of us. I am a huge fan of foie gras, and thus, we were definitely going to get the rossini($28). We also went for the truffle fries and had to top up $3.

There was a guy walking around and talking to the customers and i would guess that he was Bruno Menard but we didn't get a confirmation. I didn't really feel at ease in this place because all the waiters seemed to give us a look. I don't know if it is because i'm too sensitive but they seemed to mind that we weren't exactly ordering a lot and spending lotsa money. Nonetheless, we weren't going to let this affect our night and our dinner!

The burger came after a short wait and we couldn't wait to dig in! I cut a small piece of the dry aged beef patty to try first and it wasn't very amazing so i was quite disappointed! It couldn't compare to the one i had @ Prive a couple months back! The patty was really juicy! However, when i cut into the foie gras and put it into my mouth, i was brought to heaven! And they were extremely generous to give such a huge, fat piece! It was exceptionally creamy and smooth! Just like a knob of butter! Although the beef wasn't fantastic, when paired together with the foie gras, it was truly a match made in heaven! I truly enjoyed every mouth i had.

There was a tinge of truffle oil on every single fry, and yet the smell wasn't overpowering!

I would definitely be back again for the burger although i hope that the people there would be more friendly the next time i'm there!

Finally, Shiok Maki!! Smile Oct 01, 2013

We first dropped by at Koh's at about 7pm, but the queue was way too long so we decided to get some other goodies first before coming back again. But we knew we had to get this that night!

We came back at about 930 later, after getting The Rossini from &made! To our horror, there was still a queue, but we had no choice but to just join in. We finally got a seat after maybe around 20 minutes. Because we were still quite full from the burger, we just got a serving of the Shiok Maki, but a mix of the 2 generations. We also got the Pitan Tofu just to give it a try.

The pitan tofu came first and although it looked quite scary initially, it was actually pretty nice! I expected the dish to have a strong century egg smell but it was just nice! There was a good balance, and the tofu was really nice and silky.

The shiok maki came not long later, and i really felt a great sense of comfort as i put a piece of it into my mouth. Not only was the sauce really creamy, it went really well with both the eel and the ebi! This shiok maki is really as good as everyone has mentioned it to be.

Cake Spade Smile Oct 01, 2013

Cake Spade is just a short walk away from Tanjong Pagar MRT & is definitely easy to find! What's not easy to find are seats in this place! It was way smaller than what i had expected it to be. On this warm friday afternoon, i would have loved to be seated inside to get some respite, but that was not to be. This however did not prevent us from getting some heavenly desserts that we have been waiting to try for a long time!

First up was the double choc brownie with vanilla ice cream! The brownie was really thick and gooey which was really to my liking! Coupled with the creamy ice cream, this was a great treat on a warm day.

Next up was the strawberry tofu cheesecake which has been so raved about! This was quite different from many other cheesecakes that i've had previously! The tofu was really silky and creamy but my friend didn't really like it! I had some issues with the biscuit base though! Didn't really find it very tasty:/

On the whole, everything was still good, and there are still many many other goodies there to fit everyone's tastes(:

Bak Kut Teh lunch! Smile Oct 01, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese

This was our first stop of our food hunt for today! Met my good friend, xr at Tanjong Pagar MRT & we began walking to this BKT eating house! After walking for about 12 minutes in this blazing hot sun, we finally reached the place! It would be hard to miss this place as it was spilling with people when we reached the place! Even at this time of the day, office workers clad in long sleeve shirts and dresses didn't mind sweating it out with this good BKT!

As we were gonna have lots and lots more of other wonderful things later in the day, we decided not to order too much! We went for the spare ribs instead of the pork ribs. Along with those, we had some peanuts, some pig trotters(lean version) and some youtiao! Although the youtiao wasn't freshly fried, it went superbly well with the lor sauce that the "ter kah" was in! THe sauce was super flavourful and sweet at the same time!

The peanuts are my personal favourite and everyone should definitely get a plate if they visit this place! The ter kah was also quite tender and not tough! The spare ribs weren't extraordinary and so was the soup. It was refreshing (of course), and peppery, but towards the end, it got quite bitter, i assume due to the peppercorns. Nonetheless it is a good place to go to if you want to have some good bkt!

Just had dinner over @ Kong Kee in Geylang! After having some good ol' KL Hokkien Mee, have been craving for some in Singapore! I have been mainly satisfying my cravings by getting this black, gooey goodness from Simpang Bedok. Recently, i have heard some good reviews about the KL Hokkien Mee @ Kong Kee, along with some other good grub. Decided to go there today with my parents to check the place out.

Looking at the menu, many of the items are super pricey!! The only cheap thing was perhaps the KL Hokkien Mee and of course we were gonna get it! We also heard that the Sang Har Sang Mee was good and decided to get it! It seemed that the smallest size was $20 and this was the only size available. My mum loves Dong Po Pork so we got a serving of that as well.

The Hokkien Mee arrived first, and we dived into it immediately. We could definitely taste the Wok Hei and boy was this some heavenly goodness. What was most amazing about the noodles was the pork lard. Flavourful, crispy goodness! It literally exploded into our mouths and it was so, so crispy! Kudos to the chef for the freshness of the lard!

The Sang Mee came after this and it was super huge we all got a shock! We were quite amazed at how much we were getting for just $20, it was quite incredible.

However, my dad didn't really like it, and we couldn't really finish it by ourselves. In the end, when we got the bill, we realised that the Sang Mee was $40 instead! I was actually quite annoyed with the person who took our order! She clearly knew that there were only 3 of us, how on earth could we finish a medium sized plate of noodles that was that big?! Not wanting to make anyone unhappy, we just suppressed our annoyance and left.

Nonetheless, the boss was really nice about everything. Although she wasn't there when we were settling the bill, she was clearly very keen on keeping her customers happy. My dad was busy finding a parking space for our car so he was slightly late and the food was slightly cold. Her kind act of helping us heat up the food was definitely appreciated! This was one simple gesture of enhancing our entire experience there! I would go back because of her and the Hokkien Mee! Affordable & Tasty!
