BBQ chicken Smile Aug 23, 2013

Dined in this restaurant with my mom. When we entered the restaurant, there was only one table occupied, and it was already near dinner time. Throughout our dining in the restaurant, only around five other groups of diners patronised. Well expected, since most people go rivervale mall only for the sake of the NTUC, and not for dining purposes. One good thing is that, due to the sparse amount of diners, we managed to get the attention of the waitresses easily, and there are only 2 to 3 waitresses. Even the chefs are too free until starting to walk around the restaurant.

We order a Duo Combo set, $23.90++ and a Spoon Pizza (Chicken), $17.50++.

The Duo Combo set consists of 2pcs Olive Luxury Chicken, 1pc Jerk BBQ Chicken, 2 mushroom soups, french fries, mashed potato, olive rice, sweet dates and 2 SJORA mango-peach drinks.
All the food in the set tasted good, especially the Jerk BBQ chicken, which is a char-grilled chicken chop coated with their special BBQ sauce. It was really well marinated throughout the whole piece of chicken chop and the meat was very tender. Their BBQ sauce is really tasty.

The Spoon Pizza (Chicken) tasted really good and delicious. Instead of using pizza bread as the base, I think they used something like a sweet pancake base instead. It is a really good rendition though, as the pancake base is fluffy and not too thick and tasted a little sweet which matched well with the cheese topping. The cheese topping is another thing worth mentioning, it was really moist and cheesey and rich in taste and even produced lots of the stretched cheese effect, simply good quality cheese used.

Went for their hi-tea buffet with my mom and it took us nearly one hour to finally found the restaurant.
We walked quite a distance but cannot find the restaurant, called the restaurant and asked for direction but still cannot find, approached the security guard we passed by and still cannot find, fortunately, and like finally, we managed to at least get nearer to the restaurant thanks to the directions given by someone who works nearby. However, even after following the directions, we still reached somewhere where the restaurant is not within our sight. That was when I called the restaurant again and eventually the shop owner( I think so) personally came to find us and led us to the restaurant. I think the shop owner was already used to it.

The food there, although small varieties, tasted nice though, especially the laksa, mee siam and some of their nonya kuehs.
Laksa - The coconut milk fragrance is rich enough
Mee siam - Just the right amount and good mixture of sweetness and sourness.
Nonya kuehs - Tasty enough to satisfy our nonya kueh cravings.

Most importantly, it only costs $8.80+ per pax!

Premium laksa Smile Jul 30, 2013

Apart from the normal laksa sold everywhere, this is more of a 'premium' laksa version, with 'premuim' ingredients added, such as king prawns and scallops, and with other common ingredients such as boiled egg, tau pok and smaller prawns. Apart from their 'premium' ingredients, the taste was actually somewhat similar to other laksas sold elsewhere. The prawns and scallops were fresh, and the other common ingredients were nice too. The soup was sweet and savoury, with a strong coconut milk taste, very flavourful. Priced at $16, this is a good indulgence once in a while if you crave for a 'premium' laksa.

Good Japanese Food Smile Jul 24, 2013

Mochi Cheese Okonomiyaki - $9.90: The pancake batter was adequately flavorful with the cheese strong enough to come through. The brown sauce and mayonnaise added flavours to the pancake. The bonito flakes toppings were savoury but a more generous sprinkle would have been welcomed though.

Salmon Bibimbap Set - $12.80: Served in a interestingly big and heavy stone pot. Mixed all the ingredients and the rice together and eat it, yummy.
Rice were well seasoned and salmons were fresh and tender. Other toppings such as fish roe, thin egg slices and seaweed slices help added flavours to the overall dish. This set comes with salad and soup too.

God Fire Ramen Smile Jul 23, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen

The name of this ramen immediately attracted me, ‘GOD FIRE’ is really a special description, but how fiery is ‘GOD FIRE’, I definitely have to try it out myself. God Fire ramen came with ingredients such as black fungus, two half slices of boiled eggs, seaweed, leek slices, and three slices of large and thin cha shu. The broth was indeed spicy enough but the hotness somewhat covered over certain sweetness of the tonkotsu broth. The noodles were springy but did not really absorb the soup well. The juicy cha shu slices were soft and tender. Spicy food lovers will like this ramen.
