Battered Dory Burger Smile Jul 09, 2013   (Related Review)

Battered Dory Burger - $15.80
This is literally fish and chips between two toasted buns.
The renkon slices (lotus stem) were an interesting addition I thought, tasting pleasantly like tapioca chips, light and crispy.
The battered dory was pretty good even on its own, crispy on the outside while remaining a moisturising softness within.
The spicy-sweet tartar sauce turned out to a nice surprise for our taste buds and left a slight tinkling numbness on our tongues.
And the burger buns were surprisingly good, with nutty grains and seeds within.

white carrot cake Smile Jun 20, 2013

The carrot cake was fried to a delightful starchy crisp with a generous amount of eggs that covered most of the small pieces of carrot cake and is not oily.
The eggs together with the garlic gave it a very strong aroma and with the sprinkled spring onions its even better.
The chilli seems to be quite little amount but is nice.
With all of it eaten together, the aroma it emits make you finish all up without realizing and will crave for more.

Black Pepper Chicken Chop Smile Jun 20, 2013

Just like usual chicken chop dish, it includes a chicken chop, fries and salad.
Without the fantastic sauce, it might taste just like any other tender chicken chop you can find in a western food stall.
The black pepper gravy really has a lot peppery taste and went really well with the tender chicken chop, fries and salad.
The fries has the type of thickness that I like and since it contains black pepper bits, definitely a plus for me.
The salad itself taste ordinary but thanks to the black pepper sauce, it taste more special.

hot tomato OK Jun 20, 2013

The steak from this pasta is sirloin.
Even though it was evenly grilled to the right doneness, areas where the grill marks were, were burnt and had the burnt charcoal taste, making it taste quite bitter.
And being sirloin, the meat was expectedly tougher than the usual ribeye or tenderloin, this is no exception.
The prawns are too cooked, so it's kinda dry.
The olio aglio is nice though, enough garlic taste.

The mushroom soup was a little too watery and diluted.
It wasn’t the kind of thick and creamy texture that I expected and wanted.

Only few pieces of small garlic breads served in a big iron plate looks kind of pathetic.
Tasted just like normal garlic bread

Despite individual's weaknesses, these two combined and eaten together is still an enjoyment.

Salmon 'n' Mushroom Pasta OK Jun 20, 2013

Craving for some sort of creamy spaghetti and decided upon the salmon ‘n’ mushroom pasta.
Basically the name says it all, the sauce was supposedly creamy white sauce, but there was nothing creamy about it, more like watery.
The smoked salmon were nice but tasted more like cooked than smoked.
Mushrooms are sautéed in the spaghetti sauce thus the mushroom taste is not too strong which is good though.
