Japanese Vegetarian Cuisine Smile May 23, 2013

Over the last weekend on Saturday, I brought my daughter to Bespoke Vegetarian Dining for dinner. This Japanese style vegetarian bistro is located in Sunshine Place opposite Fortune Centre. Although this is a newly opened bistro, it was fully packed with customers during the dinner time. After waiting for about 15mins, we managed to get a table for 2. As usual we will order a few varieties of dishes to try. After flipping through the menu a couple of times, we finally settled down with the order of Buckwheat Noodles Soup, Teriyaki ''Chicken" and Shitake Mushrooms with Cheese.

Here comes our drink. My daughter ordered a Blue Lagoon. This is actually a soda drink with a pretty blue color sweetener. As usual, I will order a hot drink- Japanese green tea to go with my meal. My Tea Road stated in the tag at the end of the tea bag caught my attention shocked. Usually tag will put the name of the tea, this Japanese tea bag has a quite an unusual name.

Next came our Buckwheat noodle soup. The noodle has the QQ kind of textures with a clear soup that is rich in flavor. Floating on top of the soup is those fried tempura kinds of bits, which looks like an egg to me. Well, not to worries Vegan, Bespoke Vegetarian Dining do not serve egg, onion and garlic. However they do serve cheese, you just have to look out for this.

Coming up is Shitake Mushroom with Cheese. This is one of the recommended dishes from the menu. Personally I do not fancy mushroom because of its strong smell. However the cheese in this dish covered up the smell of the mushroom so well, there were only mayonnaise and cheese taste lingering in the mouth.

Our last dish was Teriyaki ''Chicken''. It came with just 2 sticks on a small plate. It definitely tastes like a real one as my meat-eater daughter find it licking good smile

As the bistro was having some promotion going on, we only paid about $29++ after discount for the whole meal. Looking at the receipt, it actually cost about $40++ before discount. Well, I must say it was worth it. With the nice ambience of the bistro serving Japanese vegetarian cuisine, this is definitely a place for vegetarian to go to satisfy their craving for Japanese food.

Cakes for Vegan-Delcie's Smile May 24, 2013

Being a strict vegetarian, I do not have the luxury to consume cakes, as cakes usually contain eggs. However to my pleasant surprise, I came a across Delcie's Dessert and Cakes in Fortune Centre. This is not your ordinary kind of cake shop. Delcie's Dessert and Cakes is especially cater to vegetarian and vegan. This is because their cakes do not contain eggs and dairy. Not only that, their cakes and dessert is diabetic friendly too, as they use all natural ingredients in it.

All their cakes look so yummy and colorful. To satisfy my sweet tooth craving, I bought a piece of Black Forest cake and a small box of Chocolate Macarons. These cost me about $15. Well it is not cheap, but if you want something special, you definitely have to pay for it.

Taste Verdict: Super sweet. Definitely satisfy your sweet tooth !!

Green Pasture Cafe Smile May 19, 2013

Categories : Vegetarian

Looking for vegetarian meal? Fortune Centre in Bugis is definitely a place to go. There are at least 5 to 6 vegetarian café or restaurant in this building.
For today's lunch, my daughter and I went to New Green Pasture Cafe. This café cum organic food shop is located on the 4th floor in the Fortune Centre. Part of the shop is a café where they serve food that are organically grown with low fat, low salt and msg free. The other part of the shop is selling organic food product such as organic vegetables, organic fruits, brown rice and etc. It is a small café and there was only one lady that helps to serve food, take orders and do cashiering duties. With just a handful of customers, she was already extremely busy walking around the café serving customers. Although she was extremely busy, she never forgets to put on her smile to greet the customers. Sometimes she even slow down her pace and ask the customers for feedback on the food. This little small act leaves a deep impression in me.
Sour >.<

Sour >.<

We ordered an organic honey lemon to share. This drink was served with a warning from the lady server. As the lemon that they use is grown organically, it is actually more sour than the normal lemon. Just one sip of the drink, sent both our faces twitching away >.< It is too sour for our taste and the lady is kind enough to add in more honey for us to dilute the sourness.

Here comes our lunch. Japanese Soba Set is the set meal of the day. The noodle with seaweed had a delicious fragrance smell of sesame oil and my daughter love it! Unlike the miso soup from other place, the miso soup that they served came with a lot of ingredients inside it. Tasty slurrp. The salad (bottom right) has a refreshing prune like taste. As for the other 2 dishes, the chef just wrapped some ingredients together in a seaweed to make it look like sushi.

Our last dish was sushi rolls. The Chef definitely takes the time to decorate the sushi nicely on the plate with all the green vegetables and carrots. When this dish was served, a strong vegetable kind of smell hit our nose. Taking the first bite, a sour prune kind of taste burst out from the sushi into the mouth. Nice, not your ordinary kind of sushi. However my daughter being a meat lover finds this dish too ''grassy'' for her taste.

The whole meal cost less than $40. At the same time, you can enjoy a healthy delicious meal. Definitely will go back again to try out other dishes.
