Very Salty Fried Maggie Cry Oct 10, 2013
Categories : Indian | Hawker Centre | Halal

Decided to try out a new stall during my lunch time. There are a number of Muslim stalls at Teban Gardens and I just randomly picked this stall. I thought there was only one lady queuing for her food at this stall. Somehow, I had some craving for fried maggie and thus, I ordered that for my lunch. I found a seat just in front of the stall and sat there as I waited for my fried maggie. However, I soon realized that the guy preparing the food somehow couldn't quite cope. The lady in front of me ordered two plates of mee goreng. She waited very long for her food too. Then, I found out that another guy also placed a few orders before the lady. I waited for almost 15 minutes and wanted to cancel my order but the guy preparing the food told me that he was already boiling the instant noodles. Thus, I got no choice but to continue waiting. I observed the way he prepared the food, didn't seem to be very hygienic. He didn't wash his hands after collecting money and proceeded to cut the cucumbers and other ingredients. When my fried maggie was finally ready, I went back to join my colleagues for lunch. They had almost finished their food.

Presentation of the fried maggie ($3.50) was nice. However, to my great disappointment, it was very very salty. He poured the packet of flavouring that came with the instant noodle into the noodles and probably he didn't stir it well. The packet contained monosodium glutamate, high level of sodium. I finished the egg but could only finished less than half the plate of noodles as it was too salty. Thus, a very unsatisfying lunch on that day. sad

Not really recommending this as the dining experience wasn't good at all. To start off, you must be prepared to join the long queue if you reach there around noon. When we reached, my parents were already there at the queue. Reason for the long queue? There is an opening promotion now and it is only $12 nett for buffet. Sounds good right? However, be prepared to go only for quantity and not quality food here.

The food here was seriously nothing to shout about, just very ordinary fare. Will go for more authentic Japanese buffet instead in future.

Ordered their beer battered fish and chips. When the staff asked me whether I wanted to top up ie change the fish from dory to cod fish and add in a soup of the day and a soft drink, I said "Yes" without thinking. Thus, from the $7.90 beer battered dory, I had the $12.90 combo set. However, sad to say, I didn't enjoy this meal very much. When the dish was served, I thought it looked quite decent. However, as I used my knife to cut the fish, the oil oozed out. The fried fish was really really very oily and after finishing the meal, I got this queasy feeling. Would like to check out the Mignon's Steak just opposite the next time.

Wendy's @ Tampines Cry Jul 15, 2013

Categories : American | Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

Wendy's had been back in Singapore for about a year but until now, then I got the chance to visit this fast food chain when it opened its branch at Tampines quite recently.

To be truthful, it was a disappointing meal. The beef patty was rather dry and not juicy like what their advert has claimed.
sad

I had heard some good reviews on Wendy's chili ($2.70) too but too bad, this one doesn't suit our tastebud too. It is made of minced beef, mixed vegetables and kidney beans. The beans were soft and I thought Wendy's Chili would taste better without those beans.

Not intending to revisit the restaurant again in near future....

Ruyi Cry Jul 13, 2013
Categories : Fast Food | Noodles

We decided to have a simple dinner at Ruyi resturant as hubby needed to rush off to work after this. This was the second time we dined at Ruyi, the first time we had "Ruyi" is at the airport before we departed for Melbourne last December.

Nice flower-shaped ceiling lamps in the restaurant.

This is Chinese Fast Food. Many of the cooking processes are done automated. However, I don't find their signature Ruyi Fried Rice very nice. It was a bit dry and salty. $6.20 for this bowl of fried rice is really a tad expensive. Their soup, which come together in the set, was even more salty.
