I was surprised that there was no queue at all on a weekday afternoon around 2pm. My previous trip with hubby here, we saw a long queue outside the restaurant. I quickly scanned through the menu that was put on the wall and decided to order Shoyu Ramen with 2 pieces of Char Siew. I walked into the restaurant, wanted to put down my bag, but the staff told me to go over to the cashier counter to make my payment first. I told her my order and she said the portion might be too big for me. I replied, only 2 pieces of Char Siew right? She looked at me again and said the Char Siew portion would be very big. Ok, I would order the smaller portion with one piece of Char Siew.

My bowl of ramen was served very shortly. Where is the Char Siew?

There you are! You can see the size of the char siew relative to the bowl? I guess Baikohken is one of the most value-for-money ramen you can find in Singapore. My bowl of ramen cost $10.50 nett. However, a pity that the char siew was not very tender.

The ramen are thick and curly type. However, I think taste-wise, it was just average.

This restaurant is not in Australia but in Singapore. A fairly new restaurant which I think is very popular amongst the office workers working near Raffles Place. It is located at a little corner on the 2nd level of Clifford Centre. I almost missed it because I didn't see the signboard of the restaurant. Reached there around 1pm and the restaurant was still pretty crowded.

While most of the staff working there are quite young, my food was being served to me by a very friendly auntie. Their fresh pasta cost around $15.50 while the normal dried ones cost a few dollars cheaper.

Wild Mushroom Soup
The soup was thick and I think it might be better than my favourite mushroom soup from "The Soup Spoon". I can come back again just for this mushroom soup!

The staff recommended the following fresh pasta for me.
Summer Truffle Egg Tagliatelle ($15.50)
Egg Tagliatelle with summer truffles, Parmigiano-Reggiano and chives
The pasta was soft and this dish was really very flavoursome. Might not be a good choice to have this if you order the very rich and creamy mushroom soup in the same set.

Total Bill: $9.90 as I bought the discount voucher from Streetdeal.sg

Did a bit of shopping at Tampines 1 after dinner before heading back home. As I went down the escalator to the basement, I saw a long queue at this bakery shop. Out of curiosity, I went in to have a look and ended up buying the following:

Mini Mochi Sesame Bun - I saw these unique looking bread almost on everybody's trays so I took 3 as well. After trying, I found them a bit too salty but good for snacks though.

All time favourite amongst many - Ah Pan (Red Bean Paste Flat Bun)

I also bought this as somehow it looked like a healthy snack smile Taste-wise, quite alright.

Since I will be coming to Tampines 1 quite often, will definitely try out the different types of bread from here.

This needs no further introduction and now you can find Lao Ban 老伴豆花 at Tampines MRT station! Used to join the queue at the Old Airport Market. The texture of the soya beancurd is definitely very smooth and the sweetness is just right for the dessert. Not too sure whether it is good or bad, I realize as more Lao Ban started mushrooming all over Singapore, people seemed to get tired of it and business is not as good as before. I do buy occasionally when I am at around Tampines area still. I still like Lao Ban!

Donq Bakery @ Takashimaya OK May 29, 2013

This is a relatively new bakery at the basement of Takashimaya!! So how's the bread here? I only tried 2 types this time.

Quite pricey... just these 2 already cost $5.20. I think the bread here are seriously overpriced.

Spinach sausage bun, one of their best-sellers but I didn't really like it... a bit sick of sasuage bun.

I prefer this one - apple sweet potato bun with almond nuts. Nice! It is not too sweet too!
