Little Durian Stall at Pasir Ris Smile Sep 26, 2013

Categories : Malaysian

This is a small durian stall at Pasir Ris neigbourhood area. In fact, I didn't really think much of it and having stayed near this area for near 6 years, this was the first time hubby and I tried the durian here! The shopfront doesn't have a proper signboard. It was under the signboard name of the barber shop next door "Ten Dollar.Com". However, after I had read famous blogger, Dr Leslie Tay's (http://ieatishootipost.sg/2012/07/kong-lee-hup-kee-trading-tale-of-durian.html) new food guide, I the realized that this was actually a hidden gem!

It was the durian season and hubby had a strong craving for durian. Thus, he decided to buy "Mao Shan Wang" from this durian stall. The uncle was very friendly and he asked us whether we wanted him to open the durian and packed the fruits in the styrofoam box. We paid $35 for the durian and it was charged according to weight. Thus, it was different from what Dr Leslie had reviewed last year. In his blog, he said that it was charged around $30 per styrofoam box.

Mr Wong's Seremban Beef Noodles Smile Sep 25, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre

Last Saturday, I got to go down to collect my travel vouchers from Pricebreaker (Yay! Holiday is coming!). Thus, I suggested to my hubby to go to the Marine Parade Food Centre for our lunch before going to the agency. There are many popular stalls in Marine Parade Food Centre and one of my favourites is the beef noodles here. The stall is very popular and you can see displays of all the recommendation articles and awards/posters at the storefront

I love the dry version of beef noodles. I ordered the small of beef noodles ($3.50) which was topped with pickled vegetables and peanuts. It was very appetizing and the peanuts added crunch to the noodles. The meat was very tender as well. It was definitely a good bowl of beef noodles and I will recommend this to those who can take beef.

I love the way the dish was served on this very traditional type of rooster plate, gave me a nostalgic feel. Do you feel the same? Fried stuff will seldom go wrong. Thus, by pairing the ordinary hor fun with cripsy fried chicken cutlet, it is quite a perfect combination. The hor fun was smooth and was thinner than the normal type of hor fun that we get from the "tze char" stall. Of course, this stall was highly recommended in many media sources, definitely worth trying!

October meet-up to celebrate our friend's birthday.

In short, there was a good variety of ala-carte dishes here and the food was good. Sashimi was fresh and thickly sliced. The lunch buffet cost $35++ and with OCBC credit card, you will get to enjoy 15% off. However, probably due to shortage of staff, service was very slow.

We ordered quite a number of servings for the fresh sashimi and we were all satisfied with the food, though not with the service.

I simply love the udon here and I don't seem to be getting sick of it after paying so many visits to this little udon kiosk at the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Mall. The udon is so smooth and for this visit, I ordered the tempura prawns with the udon. The broth was light and blended well with the spring onion.

The prawns were big and cripsy too. I also like their fried veggies which I had ordered during my previous visits.

Do give this kiosk a try if you like udon! smile
