Claypotfun Smile Jul 13, 2013

This claypot rice may not look appealing to you in this picture but it tasted better than it looked. Although they don't use dark soy sauce (in fact, they don't provide you dark soy sauce even when you ask for it), but this claypot rice is not bland at all. It was well-favoured and very fragrant. I found it less greasy too although lard oil was used here.

Claypot with Chinese sausage, preserved meat and liver sausage ($16.80)

This claypot liver didn't fail us as well. Very generous serving and the liver was very tender.

Claypot Liver ($9)

I would definitely love to come back again to try the other types of claypot dishes smile

Bark Cafe @ Changi Smile Jul 13, 2013

I had heard quite a fair bit of positive reviews about this cafe and suggested this place to hubby on a Saturday night. The cafe is located just next to the Changi Chapel Museum. When we reached there at around 8pm, the whole place was very crowded, mostly families and their kids.

I ordered the red plum soda ($4.50) and hubby ordered a glass of Kilkenny beer ($10)

We ordered 6 pieces of Chicken Wings! Very crispy on the outside and the meat was tender. Tasted like our chinese deep-fried shrimp paste chicken. You can find these almost on every table.
Bark's Specialty Chicken Wings ($7.90 for 3, $14.90 for 6)

We ordered only 1 main course for the night as I thought we wouldn't be able to finish 2 main courses with 6 chicken wings. Haha...
Hubby ordered his favourite lamb steak. ($23.90). He had this "Medium Well"

I like the ambience, very cosy. From where I was seated, I could also watched the movie "Evan Almighty" on Channel 5 as I was having my meal.
The total cost for 2 was $62.70 which was a bit steep. If not, we could consider coming here more often. smile

This restaurant is not in Australia but in Singapore. A fairly new restaurant which I think is very popular amongst the office workers working near Raffles Place. It is located at a little corner on the 2nd level of Clifford Centre. I almost missed it because I didn't see the signboard of the restaurant. Reached there around 1pm and the restaurant was still pretty crowded.

While most of the staff working there are quite young, my food was being served to me by a very friendly auntie. Their fresh pasta cost around $15.50 while the normal dried ones cost a few dollars cheaper.

Wild Mushroom Soup
The soup was thick and I think it might be better than my favourite mushroom soup from "The Soup Spoon". I can come back again just for this mushroom soup!

The staff recommended the following fresh pasta for me.
Summer Truffle Egg Tagliatelle ($15.50)
Egg Tagliatelle with summer truffles, Parmigiano-Reggiano and chives
The pasta was soft and this dish was really very flavoursome. Might not be a good choice to have this if you order the very rich and creamy mushroom soup in the same set.

Total Bill: $9.90 as I bought the discount voucher from Streetdeal.sg

A hidden gem in the East, situated near Eunos MRT station. There is limited parking lots near the shop front, so it is advisable to park your vehicle at Eunos MRT station then walk over. Our burgers were served in a special manner using mesh tin.

Beetroot Carrot Juice, an acquired taste. I found it okay.

Vegan Franks ($3.80), nothing quite special.

Hubby ordered the Hawaiian Pineapple Burger Set which comes along with seaweed fries and a drink ($10.85). He said it tasted quite nice but not really "wowed" by it.

I ordered the Cracked Pepper Mayo Burger ($5.85). It is one of the recommended burgers at Veganburg and I agree!

Together with my parents, we had a good dinner at Wo Peng Restaurant in MacPherson (very near to my parents' place). I got to know about this restaurant through Camemberu blog smile Initially, I thought of bringing my parents to Tao's restaurant as they have very good service and value for money set meal. However, when I called for reservation, they told me that there is an additional surcharge of $10 for each person during this weekend due to Mother's Day. I replied that in that case, we would come some other time instead. After that, I was searching for a place to bring my parents to and it seemed that Wo Peng was the best choice. Happy that I did not make the wrong decision.

It is not easy to find a parking place especially during dinner time. It is a good thing that the restaurant provides complimentary valet parking service. The day before, I called in for reservation and I was advised to pre-order the dishes as well. Thus, based on the recommendation on the phone, I ordered the following dishes:

Crispy fish skin - Very nice and crispy. No fishy smell at all and it was a good snack.

Wasabi Prawns was delicious. The prawns were big and succulent.

Charcoal Grilled Goose was one of the star dishes too!
