Ordered their beer battered fish and chips. When the staff asked me whether I wanted to top up ie change the fish from dory to cod fish and add in a soup of the day and a soft drink, I said "Yes" without thinking. Thus, from the $7.90 beer battered dory, I had the $12.90 combo set. However, sad to say, I didn't enjoy this meal very much. When the dish was served, I thought it looked quite decent. However, as I used my knife to cut the fish, the oil oozed out. The fried fish was really really very oily and after finishing the meal, I got this queasy feeling. Would like to check out the Mignon's Steak just opposite the next time.

Marina Link Mall is an underground mall in Raffles Place area. We had a hard time finding the entry to the carpark of Marina Link Mall and it took us quite a while to locate this place. Of course, if you take MRT, it shouldn't be a problem. Marina Link Mall, to our disappointment, is much smaller than our CityLink Mall. Not many shops, about four restaurants like "Ding Tai Fung", "Paradize Inn", "Ichiban" and "Absolute Thai".

We parked our car at B1 and realized that the entrance to the mall is at B2.

We were here for "Munch" as we got the E-voucher from BigDeal.sg. As such, we paid $10.50 for the 2 hotplates (I had the dory fillet and hubby ordered the roasted chicken) + 4 salads (should be side dishes).
Side Dishes: Pasta with Bacon, Thai Salad
Hubby commented that the roasted chicken was quite tasty.

Side Dishes: Pasta with Tuna, Chicken with Walnuts, Roasted Chicken
The staff was very friendly and gave me additional portion of side dish as he said the my second side dish got not enough chicken. Haha.. so I topped up with roasted chicken with no extra cost. Actually, the servings was really really very generous.
Without discount, it would have costed about $10.50 for a plate like this.

Very bright and neat setting. Food was decent but a pity that there isn't any crowd here. We were the only customers at 7.30pm on a Friday night. I like the side dishes more than my dory fillet which I thought was a bit overcooked. Also, it would better if the "hotplate" ie the dory or the chicken is served hot. The side dishes were quite filling for me, probably I chose all the "meaty" type.

Gourmetestorie gave a wonderful review of Munch. But do note that probably due to economical reasons and to keep their salads fresh, you will not be seeing such a big spread of side dishes at the salad bars shown in his blog during dinner time. When we were there, we only had a choice of less than 10 side dishes to choose from. Maybe they have a bigger spread during lunch hours to cater for the people working around the area.

Modern Peking Duck @ Ion Orchard OK Jul 15, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Beijing | Stall / Kiosk | Brunch | Kids-Friendly

This stall is likely to capture the attention of many as they place a big roasted pig at their stall! Not too sure why the stall is named "Modern". Probably because they introduce a new trend of eating peking duck? Usually we can only have this when dining in at the Chinese restaurant but now we can have it as a takeaway snack. They pre-packed the rolls of Peking Duck in boxes and you just pay and take.... almost no wait time when I was there around 1pm.

5 rolls of Peking Duck cost $6. The duck meat is tender. Of course, when you eat Peking Duck, the skin is very important. It should be crispy with some fats I suppose? I find that the skin of the peking duck here is too thin and not crispy enough. Although the sauce is good but I hope for a thicker and crisper duck skin. Another disappointment is that it is not served with spring onion or cucumber that is commonly put together in the crepe to give it a more refreshing taste.

Thai Express @ Tampines One OK Jul 15, 2013

Categories : Thai

Met up with a few friends for a catch-up session.

I ordered Claypot Vermicelli with Soft Shell Crab. It was a bit salty but the soft shell crab was nice!

I tried my friend's Olive Rice with Chicken - Where is the chicken meat? Haha... Don't quite like this dish, the olives are not strong enough.

Thai Iced Tea
I think this was the first time I had Thai Iced Tea. Don't quite like it, think it requires an acquired taste.

Although there were some hits and misses here, I will still be back again because of the comfortable setting.

RamenPlay @ 313 Somerset Smile Jul 15, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen | Kids-Friendly

It is Friday again! I decided not to have my lunch in school as I had an appointment with the tour agent at Centrepoint around 2.30pm. Took the train to Somerset and arrived at 313 @ Somerset. Decided to try out RamenPlay's Set Lunch for $10++. RamenPlay is located at the basement of 313.

Main Course: Tonkotsu Ramen
The ramen was those thin but springy type. The first mouthful tasted like the minced pork noodle that I like from Bedok North Food Centre. Haha... Not bad. The broth was rather flavourful too and meat was tender.

The set comes with chilli chives and a side dish. I chose the braised egg as my side. So in total, I had eaten one and a half braised egg, including the one in my bowl of ramen. The egg was quite nicely done, a bit runny. Overall, it was a rather decent bowl of ramen.
