Hosted on the Patio Smile Jul 13, 2013

Categories : Fusion | Pasta | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

I had made a reservation for two at "Hosted on the Patio" to sort of celebrate our 11 years together. Both of us ordered the Grilled Angus Sirloin Steak Cooked in Medium ($30).

I ordered the Bitter Chocolate and Banana Rum Tart ($10)

Hubby ordered the Marbled Cream Cheese Cake ($10)

We enjoyed both the desserts but I felt the the steak was rather forgettable.
Total bill came up to $94 for the 2 mains and 2 desserts.

Ruyi Cry Jul 13, 2013

Categories : Fast Food | Noodles

We decided to have a simple dinner at Ruyi resturant as hubby needed to rush off to work after this. This was the second time we dined at Ruyi, the first time we had "Ruyi" is at the airport before we departed for Melbourne last December.

Nice flower-shaped ceiling lamps in the restaurant.

This is Chinese Fast Food. Many of the cooking processes are done automated. However, I don't find their signature Ruyi Fried Rice very nice. It was a bit dry and salty. $6.20 for this bowl of fried rice is really a tad expensive. Their soup, which come together in the set, was even more salty.

Empire State @ Illuma (Bugis) Smile Jul 13, 2013

They have a Super-Sized burger and the actual size of the burger (in picture form) is shown in the menu. It cost $29.90. We didn't order this of course... It is really big. Instead, hubby ordered the house burger. After finishing the burger, he was full and I "helped" him to finish the fries tongue

Squid Ink Pasta ($14.90)
Today, I decided to be a bit more adventurous and try out the squid ink pasta. I wanted to try this during the previous dinner with my friends at Ma Maison but when they warned me that the ink would stained my teeth, I had second thoughts tongue True enough, I will not advise you to order this dish if you are going on a date. I got to wipe my lips a number of times to get rid of the ink so those people sitting near me will not laugh at me. Heehee...

It tasted like the normal dry version of the minced meat noodle that I often have but a bit more salty. Anyway, I ordered this dish for the experience only so I wasn't really expecting much.

Jurong Hilltop Restaurant Smile Jul 13, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

By the time we left Jurong Birdpark, it was already 3pm. We haven't had our lunch so I asked hubby to follow the signage that led to Jurong Hilltop Restaurant, which is a bit further up from the birdpark. Reached the carpark gantry, the parking fee is $3. We found our way to the restaurant which is at the basement of a swirling staircase. Reached the restaurant and we realized that we were the only customer!! Oops.. feel quite awkward. They served 3 types of cusines here and I requested for Japanese Teppanyaki.

On every table, you will find a folded orange apron and the staff will help you wear the apron once you are seated. =P

I ordered the garlic rice ($3.50) and venison set ($14).
The garlic rice tasted really really good! Really left me craving for more.

Hubby ordered the beef set.

The chef will divide our portion of venison and beef for us so each of us have a plate of venison and a plate of beef. The set also comes with a plate of beansprouts.
My suggestion for you is if you want to come and try out this restaurant, maybe you should come here for dinner. After dinner, you can have a very nice night view of Jurong/ Tuas area at the hilltop as well - Romantic?

Kki @ Ann Siang Hill Smile Jul 13, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

After our lunch at Maxwell Market, we decided to take a slow walk and do some photography around the area. When we reached Ann Siang Hill, I decided to google for the address of Kki, a cake shop which I had read in many blogs.

Kki is a small little patisserie with only 4 tables inside the shop for the customers. There are another 2 tables outside the shop. I asked hubby to sit at the table outside first while I would go in and place our order. When I reached the counter, I asked for the beverage menu first since I already knew what cake I wanted to order (I am a chocolate lover!). The lady boss immediately highlighted to me that in order to dine in the shop, customer must order at least one cake. Seriously, I was a bit put-off by her statement as I thought this should not be the way to welcome a customer to your shop. Anyway, I humbly explained that I already knew about the varieties of cakes that they had and I just wanted to have a look at the beverage menu. sad

Anyway, I ordered a glass of jasmine gryphon tea ($3.50) for myself and a cup of latte ($4.50) for hubby.

Little Red Riding Hood ($8.50)

I must admit that their cake was really good. Very rich and dense chocolate with a raspberry core. I was really tempted to try other pretty cakes but I don't quite fancy take-away. Clumsy me might crush the cake on my way home.
