Claypotfun Smile Jul 13, 2013

This claypot rice may not look appealing to you in this picture but it tasted better than it looked. Although they don't use dark soy sauce (in fact, they don't provide you dark soy sauce even when you ask for it), but this claypot rice is not bland at all. It was well-favoured and very fragrant. I found it less greasy too although lard oil was used here.

Claypot with Chinese sausage, preserved meat and liver sausage ($16.80)

This claypot liver didn't fail us as well. Very generous serving and the liver was very tender.

Claypot Liver ($9)

I would definitely love to come back again to try the other types of claypot dishes smile

Canadian Pizza 2-for-1 OK Jul 13, 2013

Categories : Pasta | Halal | Kids-Friendly

Going to have pizza again!!! This time round, 2 pizza for 2 person. Definitely enough! =P

Smoked Salmon
At first glance, the smoked salmon pizza didn't look really appealing to me because of the very bright colour. It is as red as char siew! However, taste-wise, it was alright.

BBQ Chicken Bonanza
This one had a very generous servings of chicken chunks and of course, with the BBQ sauce, it just couldn't go wrong.

These 2 regular 10 inched pizza costs $21.90 (1-for-1)!

Which is your favourite pizza delivery outlet? Pizza Hut/ Pelican/ Pizza de Frace/ Sarpino/ Ritz or..?

Bark Cafe @ Changi Smile Jul 13, 2013

Categories : Fusion | Desserts and Cakes | Pasta | Seafood | Burgers and Sandwiches

I had heard quite a fair bit of positive reviews about this cafe and suggested this place to hubby on a Saturday night. The cafe is located just next to the Changi Chapel Museum. When we reached there at around 8pm, the whole place was very crowded, mostly families and their kids.

I ordered the red plum soda ($4.50) and hubby ordered a glass of Kilkenny beer ($10)

We ordered 6 pieces of Chicken Wings! Very crispy on the outside and the meat was tender. Tasted like our chinese deep-fried shrimp paste chicken. You can find these almost on every table.
Bark's Specialty Chicken Wings ($7.90 for 3, $14.90 for 6)

We ordered only 1 main course for the night as I thought we wouldn't be able to finish 2 main courses with 6 chicken wings. Haha...
Hubby ordered his favourite lamb steak. ($23.90). He had this "Medium Well"

I like the ambience, very cosy. From where I was seated, I could also watched the movie "Evan Almighty" on Channel 5 as I was having my meal.
The total cost for 2 was $62.70 which was a bit steep. If not, we could consider coming here more often. smile

Kungfu Paradise @ Bedok Point Smile Jul 13, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Noodles | Kids-Friendly

TGIF!! Decided to drive out to have dinner on a Friday evening after work. Hubby wanted to drive to Wawawa at Bedok reservoir but I thought it would be good to go on a weekend whereby we can reach there earlier to catch the beautiful sunset. In the end, we went to Bedok Point. I think basically Bedok Point is like a Food Mall with many restaurants, right from the 1st level. There was a especially long queue at "Chicken Hotpot" so I suppose the food is good there? I am not too sure as I have not tried it yet. After going from 1st level to the top level, we decided to go down to the 1st level again as we couldn't really make up our mind what to eat. Dilemma when you have too many choices.

We decided on Kungfu Paradise. When we reached the restaurant, a friendly staff apologized to us saying that there was no seat available and we might have to wait 20 to 25 minutes for a seat. As we almost wanted to walk away in disaapointment, I saw three tables of guests standing up, preparing to leave. I pointed to the staff, telling her that there was seat available. She politely told us to wait while she would go and clear the table. So in the end, we still got a table at Kungfu Paradise. smile This was my second time here actually.

I ordered the seafood hor fun. It was quite flavoursome and the prawns were very fresh.

Hubby had noodles with egg and sausages.

We ended our meal with this dessert which looked really colourful.

As it is my hubby's birthday month, I told him to sign up for the Paradise loyalty card which can be used in all the 7 restaurants in the Paradise Group.

Hand in Hand Beijing Restaurant Smile Jul 13, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Beijing | Chinese | Restaurant

Gave my parents a little treat as I just got promoted. Whenever I run out of ideas on where to bring my parents out for meal, I will hop onto Dr Leslie's Tay blog and do a search on the Chinese food that he recommended. Through his blog, I found this little gem at Jalan Besar.

It offers nice Xiao Long Bao 小笼汤包 at an affordable price!

Sliced Pork Belly with Garlic and Chilli oil (Appetizer) ($4.80) Nice and tender. Thinly sliced such that it seemed that the fats melted in our mouth.

自制家乡豆腐
Homemade Tofu ($10.80) Very soft and nice too.

小笼汤包
Xiao Long Bao ($6.80 for 8)

金牌脆皮锅贴
Pan Fried Dumpling ($6.80)

Both the Xiao Long Bao and Fried Dumplings were nicely done. In general, I think the food here was really value-for-money. Recommended!
