Enjoy a cup of coffee here.... Smile Sep 28, 2013

After having our waffles and ice-cream at LICK, my friends and I decided to adjourn to "Pies and Coffee" for some coffee and relax. The whole place looked very clean and the pies on display looked very tempting. I would definitely like to try out their pies some other time. I ordered the flat white but a pity, it didn't come with any coffee art. However, it was very nicely layered as you could see from the photo. I enjoyed the simple moment here with good company.

Nice Crispy Prata Smile Sep 28, 2013

We travelled from the far East to Upper Thomson for prata! Had not been to this place for quite a while, and now they also had kept up with technology, using iPad to take orders.

I ordered a mushroom prata ($2.80) and a plain prata ($1). Hubby ordered a milky prata ($3) and mutton curry ($5). The pratas were really very nice and crispy. The plain prata came in a round shape whereas the other two pratas, were quite big, rectangular pieces.

The place was very crowded and we decided to lunch at the outdoor seats.

Au Chocolat @ Marina Bay Sands Smile Sep 28, 2013

My friend and I had wanted to order their waffles as there was a "50% off the 2nd waffles" promotion every Wednesday. However, to our disappointment, the waffles were not served at Au Chocolat bistro! We were told that the waffles were only served at Au Chocolat Confiserie which is located just next to the bistro. Thus, we decided to only the Kalamansi Meringue Tart ($9) and a Brownie ($5) to share amongst us instead in order to enjoy the comfortable seats at the bistro. The seats at the confiserie side are mostly high seats and we couldn't find a table big enough to accomodate 7 pax.

I love the tart but the crust was as hard as rock. No joke! Haha... Took me quite a lot of effort to break the crust! But overall, the taste of the sweet egg whites (meringue) went well with the tangy and sourish kalamansi curd.

I need to make a trip down to Tiong Bahru during one of the weekdays to do some admin work. As the Tiong Bahru Market was closed for cleaning up on the same day, I then decided to have my brunch at Tiong Bahru Bakery. This was my first time dining in here, but on my own.

Push open the heavy wooden door to get entry to the cafe.

These buns were so pretty to look at! The front three buns reminded me of "Pac-Man", with the mouth open. Haha... Which buns caught your attention the most?

Pretty tarts..

I had a cup of flat white ($5.50) and was very pleased with the very defined coffee art that they had for me. smile The heart shape was very nicely done.

Some of my friends who saw this said it was gross! The Squid Ink Bun! There's lots of greens in the bun, together with smoked salmon and ham. It was quite nice but of course, the saltiness of the smoked salmon overwhelmed the taste of the squid ink bun. How does squid ink taste like? I Dunno! LOL!

My nice brunch of the day in a very comfortable setting. smile

After a short hike with my colleagues at the Changi Point Coastal Walk on a Friday morning when we didn't need to report for work, we decided to walk over to The Coastal Settlement for an early lunch at around 11am despite having a heavy breakfast. We were one of the first few customers to arrive at the restaurant. I had wanted to come to this place quite some time ago but it was difficult to make a reservation during weekend nights. I was glad that I finally got to see this place!

As we reached the gate, we were surprised that the area next to the valet service counter was very messy, like a mini warehouse, to put all the "junk". Not too sure it was done deliberately?

The whole place was very big. As it was still drizzling, we decided to get our seats indoor.
The indoor decor was really very interesting. You could find many old types of furniture here. There were also sofa seats, high stools, low stools.. just choose wherever you like! (Provided the restaurant is not crowded). In fact, we had a change of seat after we finished our mains. My friend just asked the staff whether we could change our seats as we wanted a different view. The staff said no problem and thus, we got cosy seats to enjoy our desserts. smile

This was my cup of Flat White.

We ordered truffle fries to share. The fries were very crispy and addictive, although a bit too salty.

Half and Half Pizza - One half was Prosciutto & Arugula and the other half was Margherita. The pizza was good although I still prefer Skinny Pizza. The crust was very thin and too crispy until it was quite difficult to cut. In the end, we just tore if off with our hands.

Waffles!

I decided to serve my friends waffles since I was the one who was dying to have it but couldn't possibly finished the whole plate by myself. The staff gave us 5 small plates as there were 5 of us and the portion was big, good for sharing.

It was a great day unwinding with my friends here and we spent close to 3 hours at the restaurant. Love the ambience and will definitely like to come again, maybe during the night with hubby, smile
