Happy 42nd Birthday, Douglas Smile Dec 01, 2013

Categories : Bakery

My brother-in-law's birthday falls on the same day as Nizam. After celebrating Nizam's Birthday on Sunday with the A-Team, I had another Birthday celebration with my family for my bil. Daryl requested for a vanilla cake and after going to all the bakery at Bukit Panjang Plaza, only Swee Heng Bakery has small Fruit Cake with Vanilla Sponge Cake. Sis & Bil commented that the cake is very old-fashioned @_@

The cake although look old-fashioned, it is very soft & fluffy. The fruits on the cake are also very sweet!

Happy 38th Birthday, Nizam Smile Dec 01, 2013

Another gathering with the ATeam. This time it's Nizam's birthday.

I was at MBS prior to this, so i went High Society to buy the cake

Instead of the usual cake, I bought 6 cupcakes, $6 each from High Society: Red Velvet - The one with candle; Lust (Chocolate Chip); Flirt (Coffee); Passion (Pistachio & Raspberries); Haute (Lemon); Casanova (Chocolate Hazelnut)

I took Haute (Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd topped with Chantilly Cream) and so no chance to try the rest. This was good as the cupcakes is very soft & moist. Lemon curd was a tad sour, but the sweetness of the cream blends in quite well.

Old Birthday boy is sporting enough to wear the kiddo party hat =)

Lunch with Evelyn & her boyfriend before meeting Ivy for exhibitions at Art Science Museum. Evelyn suggested Kraze Burger cos we have not been here for quite sometime since we have been going to Au Chocolat. It's a good thing we decided to re-visit cos they have introduced some new starters on their menu

Garlic Idaho Fries is a must have for both of us. Sauteed with garlic and butter over sweet spicy sauce, cream mayonnaise and mango dressing.

I had the all-new Kraze Crab Burger. Slightly spicy & thou the crab patty is juicy, I still prefer beef.

Mussels in Tomato Herb Sauce. Fresh & the sauce is super yummy!

Scallop in Clear Broth. Scallop is fresh & sweet.

Recommended Dish(es):  Garlic Idaho Fries, Kraze Crab Burger, Mussels in Tomato Herb Sauce, Scallop in Clear Broth

Retro cafe OK Dec 01, 2013

Categories : Café | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

Evelyn dated me & her bff to eat.play.love cafe today! This Western-Thai cafe not only offers Western & Thai food, they also have a corner for customers to show the artistic/ kiddy side of them. Parents can also bring their kids here to do some handicraft items while they enjoy a cuppa brew. Apart from the handicraft stuffs, cafe is also filled with vintage stuffs!

Pretty nice Tom Yum Soup with fresh ingredients

Sharon's Chicken Chop is a little dry but taste quite good

My Basil Rice taste very "microwaved". Not spicy enough & I can hardly find any chili padi & basil. Egg Yoke is slightly over-cooked also

My Nutella & Banana Waffle. Waffle is thin & crispy. Couldn't feel the fluffiness cos it's a little too thin. But it's still nice cos the amount of Nutella is quite thick. Not a fan of banana, so will be good if they offer it with Strawberry too

Mango Love - Combination of Fresh Mango, Mango Pudding, Mango Ice Cream & Sticky Rice. No complains from them too. I feel the desserts here are better than the mains.

We're planning for another visit sometime next month, so I'll probably fill my tummy with proper food & order only desserts from here.

Pizza Pop! Smile Dec 01, 2013
Categories : Pasta

My friend and I met up at Plaza Singapura & settled our dinner at Skinny Pizza.

1-meter long Beef Sausage - slightly salty.

Truffle Fries - a little disappointing cos it's a little bland.

Parsley Mashed Potato - Ain't a fan of parsley but this doesn't have the weird parsley taste. However, I find this a little too buttery & creamy

While looking through the menu, I saw something interesting & decided to give it a try & it's called Pizza Pop in Vietnamese Coconut Poached Chicken! But how does it works? Watch the video below!

Pizza Pop in Vietnamese Coconut Poached Chicken

You're supposed to break the pizza & all the toppings will drop into the "hole". It's kind of interesting but I still prefer the standard pizza. The crust is even thinner than the usual pizza, but it turns soggy once it soak up the sauce from the topping. The crust is also kind of powdery too. Topping is nice as the chicken is very tender; sauce is slightly sour & spicy; and it's without cheese. Yes, because I don't eat cheese if given a choice.
