Mum's 60th Birthday Smile Sep 18, 2013
Categories : Beijing

Mum's 60th Birthday falls on Monday, so we had a simple celebration over the weekend. It's a typical old-skool Chinese Restaurant with KTV rooms at Chinatown, but cos we made the reservations too late, we only manage to reserve for a table at the main dining hall.

Roasted "Pi-Pa'Duck. The duck is very tender & doesn't have any smell. The sauce that comes with it is sweet & nice

Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Conpoy & Shredded Mushrooms - Broth is thick & the ingredients are generous.

Fried Spare Ribs with Garlic - Although fried, the spare ribs are tender & very strong fragrant of garlic

Sauteed Mixed Greens w/Water Chestnut & Cordycep Flowers - Crunchy vegetables & taste really sweet.

Deep Fried Fish with Fruits in "Thai' Style - Fish is fresh & the lemon chilli dressing is not spicy

Longevity Buns - soft buns with lotus paste which are not too sweet. The kids love this!

Fried Prawns with Vermicelli in Claypot - No fancy ingredients here but the vermicelli has the sweetness of the prawns.

Fried Fish Noodles with Seafood - generous fresh ingredients & the soup is very sweet

Yam Paste. Not too sweet; nice. But texture of the yam paste is a little rough & the ginko nuts is a little hard

Celebration:  生日

Back with the boys Smile Sep 17, 2013
Categories : Pasta

I'm back at the Universal Studios Singapore with my nephews & my buddy cos it's her company's family day. The boys were given a choice to choose what they would like to have for their lunch. I was really expecting that they would choose burger at Mel's Drive-In, but they choose pizza over burger!

It was their first time dining here, so I ordered the family combo which comes with a 20" pizza, 4 drinks, 2 dessert of the day & 2 soup of the day (which I forgot to take picture the soup & dessert).

Not much choice of pizza is available, so the boys choose the Pepperoni Pizza. Pizza with huge but very thin, thus it wasn't difficult for us to polish it off. A little cheesy for me as the pizza doesn't have fancy toppings except for cheese & pepperoni, but the pepperoni makes the pizza slightly sweet. Soup of the day is Cream of Corn. The soup is creamy & sweet; have quite a bit of crunchy corn in it. Croutons in the soup is crunchy even after being in the soup for a while. Dessert of the day is cheesecake & Tiramisu which ain't fantastic but the boys polish the cheesecake off cos they likes cheese

It's their first time dining here, so they're really fascinated by the huge pizza mad & I reckon they'll be wanting to diner here if we were to go to USS again!

Satay Bee Hoon Smile Sep 17, 2013
Categories : Noodles

Was hanging around at Orchard Road on Sunday with the Secondary School mates and decided to have a quick dinner before heading home. Thus, we ended up at Far East Plaza. But Anthony doesn't wants Halal food, so we went for Bak Chor Mee (minced pork mee).

While the rest had bak chor mee, I decided to have Satay Bee Hoon. To my surprise, the Satay Bee Hoon is pretty good. Cuttlefish is tender & Cockles are fresh too. The satay sauce is full of peanut flavor and there's quite a lot of peanuts n the sauce. I reckon I'll be ordering this again on my next visit!

New Outlet Smile Sep 17, 2013

Yeah~~~ Finally a Burger King outlet near me! No need to go all the way to Jurong Point/ JEM whenever I have craving for it. In case you do not know yet, Burger King replaces the previous Mos Burger. This outlet also adopts the "Order Here" & "Collect Here" ordering system. The ordering counter is right at the main entrance & collection point is slightly further in.

I ordered the new Black Pepper Beef Meal which comes along with a cup of Sjora & a pack of fries. I opt to change the fries to Onion Rings & add on 2pc of Mexican Drumlets. Beef patties on the burger is juicy & tender; black pepper sauce is a little peppery which I quite like, but I personally find the sauce too little. It will be nicer if the whole patty is soaked in the black pepper just like McDonald's Prosperity Beef Burger. Onion rings & Mexican Wings on the other hand tastes pretty much normal. Nothing much to rave about. Sjora is a mixture of peach & mango which has a refreshing taste.

With this newly opened branch, I shall wake up early on Sunday & head down for BK Breakfast soon!

Samurai Burger is Back! Smile Sep 13, 2013

Whee~~ Samurai Burger is back! Since I'm on leave today, I head down to Lot1 McDonald's for the legendary Samurai Burger (Double)! 2 slices of tender & juicy beef patties soaked in sweet teriyaki sauce, top up with mayonnaise and crunchy lettuce. Nice! But I still prefer it without mayonnaise and lettuce cos then I'll be able to taste the teriyaki sauce. Seaweed shaker fries is full of seaweed flavor!
