Waffle is hard OK Dec 25, 2013
Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Brought my nephews to the Bird Park together my 2 other friends & their kids. After exploring the park & watching some shows, we head over to Birds of Paradise to let the kids enjoy the water play. While the kids are at the water play, we adults rested our feet at Ben & Jerry's & order waffle for sharing

The waffle is quite disappointing as it it dry & hard. It's probably being left on the table for quite sometime while the one & only staff serves the other customers. It is also cold when it's being served to us.

However, the ice cream is good. We had the signature Chunky Monkey & the Clusterfluff (Peanut butter). Both were a little sweet but it's rich in flavor

Lunch OK Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

I was on annual leave on Friday as I have a one-night stay-cation at Marina Bay Sands, so I met up with Angeline for lunch at 鼎泰豐

Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs. Rice very fragrant & shrimp nicely cooked

Stir Fry Nai Bai with Garlic. NaiBai is crunchy & not over cooked

Sliced Duck in Crispy Spring Onion Pastry. Slightly oily but the smoked duck is quite tasty.

Steamed Angled Gourd & Shrimp Dumplings

The vegetable in the dumpling has got quite a weird taste & the filling is quite little. Apart from the weird tasting vegetable, there is hardly any broth in the dumplings.

Mango Tart too sour OK Dec 17, 2013
Categories : American | Café | Desserts and Cakes

Went shopping at Marina Square with Angeline & suggested resting our feet at St Marc Cafe, but I suggested Lady M since both of us have not tried before. There isn't any queue, so we quickly settled down within minutes

Checkers which is quite moist & fluffy & rich in chocolate, the staff should have cut the cake nicely. The tart was slanting to to one corner it looks like it'll collapse anytime

Tarte a la Mangue (Mango tart). Shortcrust quite buttery & passion fruit curd is sour. Mango is also sour (very sour) I had quite a hard time finishing it!

Lime juice hoping to ease the heat from the hot weather, but the lime juice is quite sour & somehow it tastes like Peel Fresh's Lime juice

Recommended Dish(es):  Checkers, Tarte a la Mangue

Birthday Lunch Smile Dec 12, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Birthday celebration with the Multiply girls. This marks the last birthday celebration of the year. I initially wanted the lunch at The White Rabbit but it was booked for a wedding (sad), thus I changed my choice of restaurant to Sumiya Charcoal Grill Izakaya (formally known as Kuriya Penthouse).

5 of us ordered a set of Yokozuna Set (3-4 pax @ $168) & a set of Sekiwake Set (2-3pax @ $68). Honestly, I really couldn't remember what item is from which set cos there's simply too much food being served

Part of the meal is Sashimi (5 kinds of Moriwase). Apart from being nicely presented, the sashimi are very fresh & sweet.

More pictures of the food offered in the set, http://milkfrost.blogspot.sg/2013/12/birthday-lunch-sumiya-charcoal-grill.html

Collagen Hotpot not to be missed Smile Dec 12, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Steamboat/Hot Pot

I've finally tried the much-talk-about Tsukada Nojo Bijin Nabe (Beauty Pot - Collagen Hotpot). My buddy reached at about 6.20pm & the restaurant is already almost full. I rush my way to get there as fast as I could cos they do not sit you in if you do not have a full attendance. Alternatively, you can leave your contact number with them & they will sms you when there is an available table (which could take u to 1.5hrs). I managed to reach before the last table is being taken!

The buddy googled & says it's a must to order Nikumaki Onigiri. Basically it's rice wrapped in bacon. The rice is very soft & it was very delicious. We couldn't decide which one to order, so we ordered all the 4! Nikumaki Onigiri (standard), Nikumaki Onigiri with Cheese, Nikumaki Onigiri with Yuzu pepper & Mayo, Nikumaki Onigiri with Red Chilli Oil. We were told that the best way to enjoy it is to wrapped it with the lettuce. I love the one with chilli oil most

The lump of pudding look-alike thingy is actually the collagen (fats!). tongue

Once heated, it will melt & turn it into a of soup. The broth is from the best chicken stock found only in Miyazaki Japan. It is boiled & simmered for over 8 hours with Jidori Chicken (a valuable ‘brand chicken’ in Japan, raised organically with stringent quality standards) bones. I personally find it super sweet & flavorful.

The waitress will be around to help you with adding of ingredients so you can continue to enjoy your other food items (is any). The ingredients were very fresh

The ramen is also very springy.

After the meal, complementary pudding is being served with cute drawings & thank you greetings.

Recommended Dish(es):  Jidori Chicken
