Mee Siam set OK Dec 06, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

Was at the airport waiting to pick up my nephews who are coming back from Hong Kong, so decided to have a quick dinner.

Ordered the Mee Siam set $5 which includes a homemade barley. Mee Siam sauce is slightly sour and it's not too spicy. You may add chili by the side if you like it spicy. I quite like the egg as the egg yoke is still slightly soft. The homemade barley on the other hand is quite tasteless

Taste more like laksa Cry Dec 01, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

We have been looking at the stall for quite sometime & since colleague was craving for curry noodle, so he drove to Bedok Market. We ordered 9 packets of curry noodle. When we went back, we were quite disappointed as the curry doesn't have the curry fragrant, It taste more like laksa. No potato can be found in the curry also. Only some tao pok, few slices of fishcake & a few pieces of chicken.

Ok noodles, bad service OK Dec 01, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles

We were at Blk 58 market to tabao lunch & since there isn't any queue at this stall, we decided to order from here. When we asked for dry bak chor mee, the lady taking order gave us the sarcastic look & told us they only serve soup bak chor mee. Since we have never tried before, we order 9 packets of it & were told to come back in 15mins to collect.

However, when we were back in 15mins time, they have not even started preparing our orders. When we asked, then only they started packing. But.. they only packed 3 packets at the time & they stopped to prepare someone else's order. In the end, we waited total about 40 mins for 9 packets of noodles! When we asked for chopsticks & spoon, we were told that we have to pay $0.10 for every set! I'm not saying that we cannot afford the $0.10, but I think it is quite ridiculous to charge patrons for the chopsticks & spoons, especially if it's for take-away orders.

While the service is bad, I must say the noodles are quite tasty. The noodles are springy & the soup is very sweet. Lots of minced pork & lard (a little oily, though.. not for people who are on diet) too! The wanton are handmade on the spot.

Spending per head: Approximately $3

Custard Bun.. thumbs up Smile Dec 01, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Sunday night dinner @ Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant with Kogu & Jenny. It's been long time since we went there & I just got to realize that they now own all the shops along the whole stretch of the building. They even have service bell fixed on every table

Shanghai Dumpling. This is pretty good, with lots of broth inside the small little dumling

Char Siew Bun is quite good. Char Siew nicely marinated, not too sweet

What is dim sum without custard bun? Just look at the flowing "lava" tells you it's good. FYI, the bun is left to cool for quite a while before we eat!

After settling the bill, we chatted for a while before leaving. I happily walked away from the table without realizing that my mobile phone is on the table. Luckily the staff standing near our table alerted me! Else, I would have to bid my mobile phone goodbye. Kuddos to the staff who alerted me on my mobile phone!

Tom Yum Seafood Soup is good OK Dec 01, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Thai

We have not been to Na Na Thai Restaurant, Golden Mile for dinner for quite sometime we decide to go back there on Thursday night cos Jenny passed her driving test (1st attempt)!

My favorite dish of all - Spicy Cockles Salad. The cockles are being slightly boiled (although I prefer it completely raw), but it's still quite raw, tossed with onions, chili padi, spring onions, lemongrass & mint leaves. For those who wished to try slightly-raw cockles but yet afraid of the fishy smell can try this.

Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup is served in traditional claypot. Sour & Spicy, yet does not choke your taste bud. Fresh ingredients too

Grill Chicken is tender, served with Thai Chili Sauce

Basil Chicken was not spicy enough. From the picture, it's minced chicken, but it turned out to be shredded chicken

Phad Thai is overly sweet. The noodles also clump together

Fried Kuay Teow is also sweet

Fried Tang Hoon. This again, is sweet. The dishes are pretty good but taste of the noodles somehow doesn't taste as good as before

Mixed Seafood in Curry. Bleh~~

Staffs here are friendly & the best thing about it, they are open 24hrs!

Recommended Dish(es):  Spicy Cockles Salad, Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup

Spending per head: Approximately $25(Dinner)
