No standard nonya kueh Cry Jul 25, 2013
Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Chinese Desserts

A relative bought some CNY nonya kuehs and love letters from Kim Choo as CNY visiting gifts. I was initially excited about trying them because Kim Choo was a pretty renowned nonya cuisine establishment. But I was disappointed after opening the container. Look at those out-of-shape kuehs stacked below normal looking kueh. They actually hid the poorly baked kuehs underneath good kuehs. huffy huffy

Dinner at TCC @MBS Cry Jul 24, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

The evil sistas meet again for our endless impromptu dinner at TCC. This was my second visit to the MBS outlet. This outlet has quiet down a lot, it wasn't busy like the previous time I was there and many items on the menu had became unavailable. Is this place on the verge of closing down?

As usual, we ordered some small bites to share. The Spicy Hot Wings $12.80++, these were good, skin was slightly spicy (I can taste curry powder) and very crispy. Meat was juicy and tender...nice.

For main course, I ordered the Pan-seared Chicken Breast w/ Shogayaki Sauce $22.00++. The chicken breast was well marinated and cooked just right, meat was tender, not tough. The shogayaki sauce was really yummy.

My friend and her hubby had the Crisp club sandwich $16.00++ and Red-hot Chicken Spaghetti $19.00++. The spaghetti tasted alright but not spicy enough, gotta add tabasco sauce. The sandwich was over-toasted...not nice sad

Another friend's Pan-fried Salmon w/ Citrus White Wine Sauce $24.80++. Salmon was slightly overcooked, sauce was a tad buttery...but overall still quite nice.

We ordered some desserts to share...

Pinana Landing $10.00++
The pineapple cake was very dry and tough! The banana slices was sweet though...a failed dish.

Apple-art Parfait $10.50++
This was not too bad, the green apple mousse contains alcohol.

The service here was bad...they were understaffed and I had to top up my own ice water after being ignored for too long. One more restaurant on my BAN list!

Dinner at TCC Wisma Cry Jul 02, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

Being a TCC member, I have a 50% discount voucher & a 30% discount voucher on my birthday month. So its time to spend it on good food with my dearest sistas...I picked this branch cos I heard ION outlet is always packed and I have friends coming down from Woodlands so Orchard is more conveniently located. They have a bright red/white theme decor, however their carpet is stained pretty bad shocked

I was there early so I ordered a salad dish and some appetizers to share with early birds while waiting for the rest to come.

My drink choice...Passion Yuzu Ice Tea
This is good, refreshingly sweet passion fruit sorbet with citrusy yuzu peels...perked me up instantly!

Baby Crayfish Salad
Fresh greens topped with crayfish mayo with tobiko roe, drizzled with wafu dressing. It tasted very good...the best dish of the day!

Mentaiko Shrimp Martini
Our all time fave, did not fail us this time round.

Things started to go downhill from this point onwards...

Deluxe Snack Platter
The Calamari was not fresh, it tasted slightly fishy and very chewy. The Cheese sticks should have a chewing gum stretch when broken into two, but they broke cleanly like biscuits, it is obviously overcooked!

Shroom bites
These were burnt underneath and looks like quite haphazardly put together with ingredients overflowing on the sides of the bites.

My main course is Ocean Surfin
I ordered this due to the good impression it left me on my last visit to tcc Bugis. I'm very disappointed, the fish is overcooked and sorta shrank in size!

My friend's Mentaiko Spaghetti w/ Salmon Tataki
The Sunny side up egg yolk is supposed to be runny but it is not, the salmon was also overcooked. Thumbs down again sad

Service level here was alright. However, the overall food quality here hass more misses than hits. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

Takeaway dinner from Sakae sushi Cry Jun 04, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

Haven't been patronising Sakae sushi for quite a long while. I decided to order something for dinner after seeing there is no crowd on a monday. I ordered a Sakae salad, a soft shell crab wrap and a unagi maki. Boy I was disappointed with the food quality...the standard has plummeted since my previous visit.

The soft shell crab wrap wasn't even wrapped properly, all the ingredients were falling apart when I tried to pick it up with my chopsticks. Taste wise nothing to rave about.

The unagi maki looked real good on the menu but when I saw the tiny slice of eel only partially covering the top of the maki....I knew I will be disappointed. Indeed, it tasted mediocre.

The Sakae salad was also a disappointment with a rojak mix of salmon slices, crab sticks, tamago strips, wakame and some greens. The salad dressing was too overpowering with wasabi taste...I really did not enjoy this dish and couldn't finish it in the end.

I shall stay away from this joint for a much longer time..

Service sucks to the max! Cry May 17, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : European

For detail review, please visit my blog - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2013/03/blisshouse-central-clarke-quay.html

It's my friend's birthday and she chose this place for the celebration cos it looks similar concept as Fullhouse theme restaurant at Rendezvous hotel which we liked very much. We were quite disappointed with this place...other than similar looking decor, this place is nothing like Fullhouse. Food is expensive, service is slow. Waiting time for food is long despite the place is 90% empty at lunch hour..

Ok, here's their menu...

Food here is largely a hits and misses affair...some tasted quite alright, some are nothing to rave about...and all comes with a hefty price tag shockedshocked

The best dish of the day is a $24 appetizer...Scallop with prawn & caviar. 4x Prawn and scallop pairs topped with cavier, fresh and well cooked.

Another expensive appetizer...Baked Portobello mushroom with cheese, $16 for one freaking mushroom! And it just tasted ordinary.

The mains (meat dishes) are all above $30++ per dish and serving portion is small.

Kurobuta pork chop $32...my friend who goes on frequent biz trip to japan said this ISN'T authentic kurobuta.

My order, Red Malabar Snapper $32...I couldn't tell whether this is real malabar or not but the fish was fresh and well cooked albeit being very small in portion. I'm still hungry after the meal

Some other friends ordered pasta dishes...they tasted ok.

About the service...ice water need 20mins to pour and serve..in several batches. Food waiting time min. 1hr...reason being 'we ordered too many things'. They served alcoholic drink to my friend who ordered non-alcoholic and only told her after she drank it... Overall dining experience is bad and if I were you, I'll avoid this place at all cost!!
