Spicy Beef Soup Smile Aug 20, 2013
Categories : Korean | Food Court

Was craving for some hot soup so I decided to have my dinner at Korean Cuisine stall at the Kopitiam at Sun Plaza.

I ordered a bowl of Korean Spicy Beef soup at abt $6 which comes with a bowl of rice & some Korean side dishes. The portion is very generous, big enough to be shared by 2 person.

Food-wise, there is nothing much to complain about.. just nothing to rave about as well. Quite normal, with the usual foodcourt standard. Acceptable for a simple meal at it's price.

Very Nice Laksa! Smile Aug 20, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop | Noodles

Was around the area when this Laksa stall caught my eyes. $2 Laksa! Where can you still get a bowl of Laksa for only $2? I knew I had to try!

The Stall looked very traditional as well, with a huge silver pot cooking over a charcoal stove outside of the stall. Looks like a sure sign for good food.

I actually upgraded my Laksa to $3 as I'm a big eater. tongue

The Laksa is very interesting as when my food was ready (it was self-service), I looked around for chopsticks and there wasn't any. And then the Auntie told me.. 'spoons only'. Well, the noodles are cut before serving so you will not have any problems with eating with only a spoon.

This is truly one of the best Laksa I've ever had! The soup base is strong with the taste of shrimp & even though it looks like a lot of chili had been added, it's not spicy at all. The noodles are tangy and soaked up the soup well.. My mouth is watering just writing these out!

Highly recommended!

Ma La Soup Smile Aug 13, 2013
Categories : Sichuan | Chinese | Food Court | Noodles

I'm addicted to Sichuan Ma La dishes these days & had been going around finding places that serves Ma La food.. and this place is my latest find!

Ma La Da Wang is one of the many Food court style Ma La hotpot that had been popping up everywhere in Singapore these days. Like Yong Tau Foo, you get to choose the ingredients you want.. But instead of charging you by the item, here they charge you by weight.

You have to be careful of what you choose because it's really easy to choose too much and end up with a hefty bill.

The ingredients are categorized into vegetables, mushroom, meat & seafood & charged differently. What I really like about this stall is that they are very transparent, and weights each category you have chosen carefully in front of you & tells you the price separately before giving you a total price, unlike some of the others that I had tried before.

This is really good service as they assure you that you are not being overcharged & you wouldnt get a shock when you see the bill.

I chose to top up $1.50 for the soup today & just mild spicy. The soup base is delicious and the spiciness is just right at mild spicy for me - I could even drink the soup! The ingredients were fresh & soaked up the Ma La flavour well.

Total I paid $7.50 for my food, including the soup base & rice.. which I think is very worth because I had paid much more (abt $16) at other Ma La Hotpot stalls before. This time I only chose luncheon meat & vegetables though..

I highly recommend this stall for Ma La lovers!

Curry Katsu Bento OK Jul 29, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

Visited this little sushi bar tucked in a corner of Far East Plaza with my colleagues for lunch.

Our order took really long to come even though we were the only ones in the shop. I ordered a Chicken Katsu Curry Bento which came in a plastic bento box, those usually used for take-aways. I'm fine with it, just hopefully they dont re-use it.

Food-wise is quite okay, portion isnt big though. Not a very filling meal for me.

Plain Ramen Smile Jul 22, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

Was at Northpoint and wanted to have a simple dinner so we decided to visit Ishi Mura as they serve rather affordable food there.

I ordered a plain ramen for $4.80 as I dont like the Japanese type cha siew.

The plain ramen only comes with an egg, the noodles and a piece of seaweed. Great if you are looking for something simple & cheap.

The soup is really nice & thick, a milky color although you dont taste any milk. It's just hours of boiling I think. Noodles is quite average and a little over-cooked that it's not tangy. Still acceptable.
