The steamboat actually comes in individuals and powered by those solid fuel. so the soup takes longer time to boil. there are different type of soup base you can choose from. This time we choose the duck meat and the ma-la type. i quite like the ma-la one as it is not choking like others. it is less oily too.

the ingredients wise, sadly the beef fails big time. if only they use quality beef else it will be perfect! the pork is ok. variety of steamboat ingredient is also ok too. overall - OK except for the beef. or maybe the fire is too small, so the beef gets overcooked lol.
there are also some cooked dishes that you can ordered. i like their meatballs best!

The food is pretty ok for selective dishes and the price is quite reasonable too. I wouldn’t say all the dishes are good but it is actually subject to individual’s taste buds la. like for example : some dish i will find the taste so so only but my fiance will love the dishes like crazy and will repeat order it each time we go there for dinner.

Here are some of the dishes that i feel is okay: their fried mee sua. ok, this is the dish that i love whenever i go there for dinner. not too oily and the mee sua doesnt taste like “expiry fried food”. means they use fresh oil to deep fry the mee sua before frying it smile

ginger fry venison. the sauce is pretty good to go with plain white rice. the venison is also not overcooked. worth the try

Radish omelette. the egg is pretty soft but sadly, i don't taste much of the cai por lo shocked

overall
Food : ** 1/2

Customer service : ** 1/2 ( i dont really like the staff there but i give a 1/2 more cos they help me to put mosquito coil when i request for it)

Btw, did i mention that there are a lot of mosquitoes there? If you are there for dinner and afraid of commandos you can request for mosquito coils =)

Ramen-ing OK Aug 02, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

So what so special about the ramen? Well, the difference I feel lies in their broth and noodles.Hakata ramen is cooked using tonkotsu (pork bone) which usually is the usual cloudy white broth. The broth is super rich in collagen( you can taste it!) The noodles are very thin and straight (something like marutama ramen).

I took the original version but I find the taste is too bland for me.

Prefer the garlic burnt ramen as the taste is stronger and the soup is nicer

The noodles is similiar to marutama ramen (very thin) and the soup is quite nice actually. However, i prefer the garlic burn as it has stronger taste. the egg is a little too salty for me.

Will I come again? Maybe if I have ramen cravings and around the corner.

A newly open Zi char stall located at the kopitiam @ blk 19 of Ghim Moh estate. The dishes are quite reasonably priced and the food taste is quite ok (depending on which dishes). We tried the curry fish head before and is quite good. So we decided to try out other dishes this time.

Assam fish head - we are quite surprise by the serving as the fish head is really big. but we are quite disappointed with the assam sauce as we find it too little.

Home made toufu. this dish is actually quite nice. the toufu is really soft and u can actually taste the egg in the toufu ( really egg toufu lo). however, this dish is alittle too oily. at the bottom of the dish, you can see super thick layer of oil.

Salted egg bitter guard. this is my fav dish. the bittergourd is coated with salted egg yolk evenly. i love this!

will i come again? Yes. i will still try out other dishes.

Jpot-ing @ Vivo City OK Jun 12, 2013

For more detail post and food pictures, please visit http://princessmic80.blogspot.sg/2013/06/of-jpot-ing-vivo-city.html

Jpot (opened by jumbo) is located at Vivo city #01-53. always packed but lucky for us, we did not need to wait very long.

there are various soup based to choose from ( about 4-5). you can choose 2 pots for sharing or 1 pot for each pax. however, we took 2 pots for sharing (jpot special broth and tom yam soup based ~ refillable). The ingredients is ala carte based and each plate cost about 0.5 ( for egg) until X amount ( cos they sell fresh seafood so it depends on the weight ). The ingredients comes in small plates which i find the quantity is very small so we ended up ordering repeated ingredients or double the quantity for each order ( imagine chicken hotdog comes in 2 pieces only lol per 1 order).

You also need to mix your own sauce for the food which i feel it will taste a little weird with sesame sauce + chilli paste + soya sauce + x sauce lol. so i insist on sesame sauce only lol

Overall
Food : *** ( Tom yam is not as spicy. Jpot special broth is good,)
Price : **** (slightly steep, is about 109 in total and we did not order very expensive ingredients =( )
Customer service : ** ( we asked for refill but it took them ages to do it. We had to ask multiple staff to refill and only 1 managed to do it in the end.)

some of the must try ingredient i feel : fried bean curb, prawn noodles, meat balls
