Yum Cha in Hong Kong Style OK Sep 11, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Dim Sum

like many others, i am a crazy fan of dim sum and the best dim sum i ever had are those that i had in Hong kong. and here, i cant find any that match that standard so far lolx. however to curb my cravings, anything is good ya? Hong xin, the famous dim sum restaurant. the place where they serve dim sum like typical Hong kong style. waitress will push dim sum carts around and u just pick your choice.

very hong kong feel. hiaz. the food is so so only. not as nice as before. =(. and i feel the price is slightly steep too.

Steam pork ribs i feel is the best among that i tried other than my fav char siew bao. not too fat the meat and too oily

Chee cheong fun, i find the skin abit too "rough". maybe they din use finer rice flour?

xiao long bao..no soup inside...sad. taste more like wrap siew mai

char siew bao..my fav. consider "meet" my expectation as the skin is pretty soft and it is stuffed with alot of char siew

chicken feet..not too bad.

overall
Food : **1/2
Customer service : ** ( some times i need to "chase" the trolley ladies . i flag them many times and they couldnt see me. =()
Price : **** ( i find the price is slightly steep)
Will i come again : sadly. maybe to try if there are any improvement

Last Sat I was fed with the finest Japanese cuisine that it sent me straight up to cloud nine + tears streaming down from my eyes...it is too delicious that words cannot best describe my feelings except i tempt you with all the food pictures i took last Sat. Muahahaha.

Their Omakase is priced from 50 up to 85 bucks per set. Trust me, it is really worth every single cent. and Yes, it is a counter only restaurant that can sit up to 20 pax at one time only so there is a waiting Q that you need to join. for your info, the reservation list is fully taken up until end of this yr and you will need to book for next yr slot already! since we are there, we opt for the most expensive one la..

Overall,
Food : **** ( out of 5)
Price : *** ( comparing to the type of food we ate that night, it is super value for money!)
Customer Experience : *****
Will i come again ? : i love it sooo much that i put myself on waiting list everyday! one call and i will rush my way there muahahahaha

these are some of the food we had. There is a total of 20 over dishes!

Appetizer. the vege is so fresh and the salad sauce is sooo good. first dish already set me up on preparing to take off mode haha.

Sashimi...that send me up to Cloud 9 already..the sashimi is super fresh! i just eat it without wasabi.

butter clam soup...clam is super fresh!

Sea urchin with scallop....i am already floating in the air..lol

The beef that sends me up to heaven and dont feel like coming bk hahahaha

there are many more dishes and I would say that I feel very fortunate to be able to go for their omakase that night as i am surrounded by very good food with the price of 85 bucks. if you want to try their omakase, i would suggest to go for their 85 bucks set, it is really worth and the food is soo good!

for more food pictures and detailed review, please go to http://princessmic80.blogspot.sg/2013/09/of-steamboat-ing-good-times.html

The steamboat actually comes in individuals and powered by those solid fuel. so the soup takes longer time to boil. there are different type of soup base you can choose from. This time we choose the duck meat and the ma-la type. i quite like the ma-la one as it is not choking like others. it is less oily too.

the ingredients wise, sadly the beef fails big time. if only they use quality beef else it will be perfect! the pork is ok. variety of steamboat ingredient is also ok too. overall - OK except for the beef. or maybe the fire is too small, so the beef gets overcooked lol.
there are also some cooked dishes that you can ordered. i like their meatballs best!

Will i come again? Yes. but i will not order the beef anymore...=X
the individual pots..the fire that took forever to boil haha..one bad thing is you cannot control how big the fire..thats y it is slow

of @ Jamies' Italian Smile Sep 02, 2013

Categories : Italian | Pasta | Seafood

Here is a short writeup on what we have and I feel it is worth trying. =)

Prawn linguine @ $17: For every pasta, it comes in two size portions. Starter @ $17 and $22 for the normal. The Prawn Linguine is pretty good except we find it a little too watery.

Black Angel spaghetti @ $17. One word - GOOD!

Vongole. Haha. All of them say mine is the most not value for money cos the serving is pathetic haha. But I beg to differ. I feel the portion is just nice and I love the white wine that goes very well with the clams! One word from me. Fantastic!

From left to right. Funky chips, posh chips and polenta chips. My fav will be the posh chips.. Why? Cos it is truffle fries with garlic haha. The fries is slightly different from others as it is not those that is super crispy type!

Italian burger @ $27.50: A super big wagyu beef patty stuff with fresh veges and bacon! The bread is crispy and yet soft on the inside. The beef patty is very juicy and tender! The burger is definitely worth every single cent of your money!

Warm brownie. Rich in chocolate but not jelat.

Dim Sum at Peony Jade Smile Aug 26, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Sichuan | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

This is my first time to their restaurant and this is my feedback!

Must try their signature dim sum. My favourite will be their taro steam pork ribs and their pandan custard bun.

The price is quite reasonable, per pax is about 30 bucks and we ordered a lot of food. There is also a promotion for OCBC and Standard Chartered Credit card holders. Super friendly staff who will offer to recommend signature dishes when we cant make up our mind on what to order.

Will i come again? Definitely!

Here are some of the dimsum that I find it worth trying: Steamed pork ribs with taro. the taro is very soft. The pork ribs is very well marinated and the meat texture is very smooth.

Their Famous QQ dimsum. Small white rabbits that are made of mashmallows and covered with shredded coconut meat!

Ttheir har kaw and their pandan custard bun

prawn roll with avocado fruit! The avocado fruit adds a creamy rich feel to the prawn roll!
