Long wait for Lor Mee Cry Jan 18, 2014

Lor Mee, $3

Lor Mee, $3

Being a ultimate fan of lor mee, I've heard many good reviews of this stall at the Hainanese Village food market! Coincidentally, it is located near to one of my good friend's house! smile We went there for lunch and the lor mee stall is really popular with a long queue! However, after 10 minutes of waiting, I began to wonder if the long queue is due to the slow service or that it is really popoular. Anyway, after around 20 minutes, I got my bowl of lor mee which consist of the yellow thick noodles, ngor hiang, pork belly, bean sprouts, fishcakes and an egg. I was disappointed with the amount of ingredients and the thin gravy. It also did not come with any fried fish/nuggets/fritters.

Disappointing wanton mee Cry Dec 14, 2013

Wanton Noodles Soup, $3.50

Wanton Noodles Soup, $3.50

This is one of the worst wanton noodles I ever had! I usually order the dry version so I'm not sure if it's because this is the soup version. However, the wanton dumplings are hard and the char siew meat is so fatty. Lucky thing I was hungry so I managed to finish it, if not it would surely be a waste! Also, lucky thing the texture of the noodles were okay too, and not the type of hard to chew kind of noodles.

Pretzel Cry Dec 06, 2013

Seaweed Pretzel

Seaweed Pretzel

It's been so long since I last had a pretzel from Auntie Anne and was craving it for a few days already! I would always buy either the sour cream or caramel-almond flavour. This time, I decided to get the seaweed flavour which i regretted! I could barely taste the seaweed on the pretzel and it was almost like eating the normal plain pretzel. The seaweed pretzel which costed more than $3 is not worth it at all. :/

Beef Noodles Cry Nov 24, 2013

Dry Beef Noodles w Beef Slices & Beef Balls, $5

Dry Beef Noodles w Beef Slices & Beef Balls, $5

This beef noodle stall had received good reviews from various sites and I decided to head down and grab a bowl! I ordered the dry version consisting of mixed sliced beef and beef balls. The noodles and beef slices were okay but I was quite disappointed with the gravy as it tasted kind of bland to me. I guess it's personal taste-buds as I very much prefer the thick and sticky kind of gravy sauce. Hong Kee's version is too light for me. I heard that the beef balls are bought from a supplier, and it really tasted very average.

Lontong Cry Nov 07, 2013

Lontong, $3.50

Lontong, $3.50

As it's been a long time since I had a bowl of lontong, I decided to order one from this stall here. I don't usually order from the malay food stalls as there are very few compared to the chinese stalls over here at the Tampines Round Market. The lontong looks yummy but when I tried it, it was so disappointing. The curry was very bland and it was pretty much tasteless. I thought it might be because I didn't add chilli but I usually don't add chilli and I remembered it still had taste!
