A taste of Malaysian food Cry Oct 29, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian | Food Court | Noodles | Bak Kut Teh | Claypot Rice

I've been wanting to check out the food at Malaysia Boleh since it opened during the end of 2012. There are a range of food stores selling Penang Assam Laksa, Bak Kut Teh, KL Hokkien Mee, Fried Oyster, Wanton Mee, Chendol etc. As we were there during dinner time, the queues were very long and it was hard to find seats.
Wanton Noodles

Wanton Noodles

I am disappointed with this bowl of wanton mee, which we queued for around 15 to 20 minutes! The noodles were quite tough and the wantons were so little and tiny. The char siew and sauce was so-so.
Fried Oyster Omelette

Fried Oyster Omelette

The fried oyster omelette was even more disappointing as it was quite cold when we ate it. Not satisfied, we went to queue for the claypot rice, prawn mee and char kway teow as well. The prawn noodles and char kway teow were so-so as well but the claypot rice was the best out of all!
Chendol

Chendol

Ending off our dinner, we had a bowl of Penang chendol and I felt that the red beans were too overpowering, it basically dominated the whole bowl of chendol. I miss the authentic chendol from Malacca! I also tried the fried durian pancake and was utterly disappointed too! It was very oily and had much more flour than the durian flesh.
Luo Han Guo

Luo Han Guo

This luo han guo drink is nice though, sweet and very refreshing! Overall, I felt that the food here is very average and it's not worth the price and waiting time!!

Korean bakery desserts Cry Oct 15, 2013

Original & Mango Pudding, $4-4.50

Original & Mango Pudding, $4-4.50

These royal puddings from Korean bakery, Paris Baguette, have been receiving a lot of attention lately and it's either you like it or not. For me, it was definitely overrated and overpriced! When I saw the puddings in real life, it was so small and it cost $4 for the normal one and higher for the flavoured ones. I don't find anything special about the puddings.
Tiramisu Pastry, $2.50

Tiramisu Pastry, $2.50

This tiramisu pastry is the worst pastry I've ever eaten! One of my friends actually commented that it is as if she is eating paper! It was so hard and barely had any taste.
Strawberry Shortcake, $7.50

Strawberry Shortcake, $7.50

Feeling unsatisfied, we went to take another look and the cake section and decided to get this pretty looking strawberry shortcake. The pink macaron sitting on top of the cake is nice, but other than that, the whole cake tasted very average. I don't really like spongy chiffon type of cakes and so it did not leave me an impression.

Ala carte thai lunch Cry Oct 14, 2013

Beef Noddles, Tom Yum, Iced Milk Tea

Beef Noddles, Tom Yum, Iced Milk Tea

Jai Thai has 4 outlets in Singapore, with the latest one at Dhoby X'Change. Intially we wanted to order the set lunch which included a choice of some mains, drink and dessert. However, the drinks they offer were limited and did not include the thai milk tea. The dessert was some jelly thing which neither of us like. So we ordered the individual meal and I had the beef noodles which was very disappointing. The noodles were fine but the beef slices were tough and full of fats. My friend's tom yum seafood noodles were average. We both ordered the Thai Iced Milk Tea to see the standard and sadly it was quite bland and lack the authentic Cha Yen taste.

Beef noodles Cry Sep 20, 2013

Sliced Beef Noodles, $5

Sliced Beef Noodles, $5

This stall is an outlet branch of the famous beef noodle stall at Cuppage Centre. Besides the beef slices, there was also one beef ball included. The beef noodle soup tasted very average, and the beef slices were not tender at all. Some of them were too tough for me to chew and I gave up chewing halfway. The bean sprouts and noodles tasted better but still, very average. Perhaps the actual stall at Cuppage Centre is the real thing!

Craving for burgers Cry Sep 12, 2013

Categories : Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

I finally satisfied my Omakase Burger craving after hearing many good reviews about it. Sadly, it was extremely disappointing!
Omakase Signature Cheeseburger, $13.90

Omakase Signature Cheeseburger, $13.90

I had their signature Omakase Cheeseburger which consist of beef patty, melted American cheese, lettuce and tomato wrapped in toasted artisanal bun with their special Omakase sauce. My friend tried their monthly special burger which is some fish burger, I could not really remember the exact name.

When I went to collect the burgers from the counter, I was quite shock by it's small size. I expected the Omakase burgers to be quite huge but the size is similar to a Macdonald or Burger King burger. I chose my beef to be done Medium and the patty was tender and covered with cheese. I felt there was nothing special or commendable about the burger and it is really not worth the price at all. I would rather have a satisfying Macdonald set meal which cost half the price of a Omakase burger! I guess the only difference is the type of bun used for the Omakase burger.
