Nice but expensive bread OK Feb 25, 2014

This hole-in-the-wall bakery Nicher have been appearing on various articles and I had to check them out one day! As I was around Tiong Bahru for lunch, I decided to drop by and got half loaf of their Earl Grey Berries pound cake! It is a really tiny shop situated next to a wanton noodles stall and you have to look really closely to spot this bakery! Anyway, they close around 3 pm and when I was there about 1 plus pm, their breads and muffins are all just freshly baked!
Earl Grey Berries Pound Cake

Earl Grey Berries Pound Cake

I have never tried this flavour of pound cake before and was pretty eager to eat it! The pound cake is dense and buttery with the right amount of moisture. The healthy dose of berries mixed within and the tinge of Earl Grey is just too good! I find it expensive though and would only consider this a treat once in awhile smile

Indian breakfast OK Feb 24, 2014

Brekkie!

Brekkie!

I was craving for an Indian breakfast and this stall is located just 10 minutes walk from my house! As usual, I ordered the Paper Thosai while my mom had the Plain Prata. We both shared the Coin Pratas! I ordered Masala tea while my mom had Teh Halia. I expected the place to be bigger actually but it was quite crampy and their service is bad! We had to keep repeating our orders and the man is very slow and can't multitask. Lucky thing their food is nice if not it would be a really horrendous start to our day. The paper thosai is wider than the width of the table! Their curry standard is better than most places but the chilli is too spicy for me! The cute coin pratas are tasty and the prata curry is also good! As for my Masala tea, it is not bad but I prefer the Teh Halia, which is superb! Overall, their food is good but the environment and service makes me think twice about coming back again.

Portuguese Egg Tarts

Portuguese Egg Tarts

I am never a fan of Portuguese egg tarts after trying one from a fast food cafe and prefer the Chinese egg tarts! One of my mom's friend bought a box of 6 egg tarts for my family and they looked good! I decided to try one and it tasted better than my previous experience but not fantastic. The custard is creamy but other than that, the taste is just normal and nothing to rave about.

A mid-afnn treat! OK Feb 24, 2014

I was shopping with my friend around Vivocity and we both needed a break. We just happen to walk past this little shop and the ice-cream picture on their flyer looked enticing! We decided to try and bought one cup to share.

The ice-cream is from Ben & Jerry's and we got a scoop of Vanilla sitting on top of a few cinnamon sugar coated balls. We were then given a choice of a tropical fruit topping and we got peach. The cinnamon balls are soft and chewy and when paired with ice-cream and peaches, it was absolutely delectable! tongue

Ondeh Ondeh, 6pcs for $2

Ondeh Ondeh, 6pcs for $2

I was having lunch at Tiong Bahru market and spotted this stall. I thought that the name sounded familiar and recalled that I have read about them in the Newspaper! I decided to check out the stall and saw articles raving about their Ondeh Ondeh. I bought a pack of 6 pieces for $2 and had them at night. I find that the Ondeh Ondeh skin was quite hard. I'm not too sure if it was because I store them in the fridge for a few hours that resulted in their slightly tough exterior. Also, the gula melaka fillng was just okay only.
