Tiny nostalgic cafe Smile Dec 17, 2014

Categories : Singaporean | Fusion | Desserts and Cakes | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

This cafe is really small! The tiniest so far in Singapore with a seating capacity of less than 10pax!

I love peanut butter and this is a must order! Peanut prince milkshake is so deliciously thick though i prefer it to be sweeter.

Next up is the Okasaan Waffles! By the looks of it seems crispy but the waffles were the soft and spongy kind, not my kind of waffles but the filling inside were good!

This Muah Otah Roll is a must order as well! The otah meat was thick and shiok! I felt the owners were very innovative to serve the old school pinwheel crackers as a side ;)

Yummy lor mee but long queue! Smile Mar 26, 2014

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles

Being a fan of lor mee, I've always wanted to try the famous one at this hawker! Finally had an opportunity but when I reach here around lunch time, the queue was extremely long but I still went ahead to queue. Luckily, it didn't take a long time as it moved pretty fast and I got my bowl 20 minutes later.

I always like the look of the bowl of lor mee when served initially.. thick dark sauce covering all the ingredients and noodles!
After mixing!

Then my favourite part is to uncover all the goodness! I like the generous amount of servings given like ngoh hiang, fish cake, fried fish and pork belly. I love the ngoh hiang most as it is so crispy! The sauce is gooey but would be better if it's thicker! At only $2.50-$3 for a bowl, it is definitely one of the cheapest you can find in Singapore! lol

Recommended Dish(es):  Lor Mee $3

I've always wondered how this stall is able to survive so long in the market as there is visibly no queue each time I glance at this stall. Today, I just felt like having porridge for breakfast and went to order their chicken porridge. The owner then informed me to be prepared to wait 15 minutes and I was a little taken aback. Only then did I realise that they actually serve the porridge bowls to the customers and there were many waiting when I paid close observation of the stall. I really did wait for close to 15 minutes before my porridge was served, which was piping hot and consist of generous amount of shredded chicken! Now I know where I can conveniently find a good bowl of porridge! smile

Recommended Dish(es):  Chicken Porridge $3

Excellent Chye Poh! Smile Mar 26, 2014

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre

This is my first time trying these famous chwees kuehs from Tiong Bahru and I bought the 8pieces for $2.40! They sell a minimum of 4 pieces up to 20 pieces. The key ingredient is the chye poh, and the ones here are amazing! It is really very nice! After trying it, I don't think I am able to appreciate the ones selling elsewhere anymore. Bedok's chwee kueh are also nice and comes in second! tongue

Recommended Dish(es):  Chwee Kueh $2.40 for 8pcs

Quality + Value for money! Smile Mar 26, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

This is one of the popular stalls here selling fishball noodles or yong tau foo. The price for a bowl of fishball noodles range from $2 to $3 and I ordered the $2.50 bowl, which is super value for money!

Look at the amount of ingredients they gave! The slices of fish cakes, fish balls, her giao and lean meat etc. Even better is knowing that all are handmade!

After mixing with my meepok, which was so delicious on its own! I like the sauce and they added in a generous amount of pork lard, no wonder it is so tasty!
This stall is one of the few left in Singapore that sells authentic old school noodles! Many people ordered their yong tau foo too, which I'll definitely try the next time smile

Recommended Dish(es):  Hui Ji Fishball Mee Kia $2.50
