Unami broth! Smile Feb 08, 2014

As I was there quite early, most of the stalls were close except this prawn noodle stall, the wanton noodle and another stall. Only the prawn noodle stall had a queue which didn't went away even when I was leaving the place!
Prawn Noodle Soup, $3.50

Prawn Noodle Soup, $3.50

The highlight of an excellent bowl of prawn noodles lies in the broth and the freshness of the prawns! I really love the broth and is by far one of the best I've ever tried! They were also very generous with their ingredients and I had like 5 decent sized prawns! I am happy to find an awesome prawn mee stall around Tampines! smile

Traditional icy dessert Smile Feb 08, 2014

Ice Balls, $2.50 each

Ice Balls, $2.50 each

One of my friends recommended trying this traditional dessert called Ice Ball, which is also known as 'Ais Bor' by the older generation. We ordered one each and initially thought we could savour it the ol' way of eating it by the hand but the ball turned out to be so big! It is actually like Ice Kachang with syrup and condensed milk being poured all over the ice just that this is in a ball shape.

Upon poking the ice, it was a pleasant surprise to find all these ingredients as I really didn't expected anything inside! There were atap seed, colourful jellies, red bean, chendol etc! I still think it is pricey though at $2.50 each but it is worth trying for the experience of an old dessert well loved by our parents! smile

Fishball Kway Teow Soup, $3

Fishball Kway Teow Soup, $3

Upon randomly chancing upon this good fishball noodle stall a few weeks ago, I am back here again and this time, I tried their soup version and opted for kway teow noodles instead of the usual mee kia. The uncle is really good as even the plain looking bowl of soupy fishball noodles is tasty! I also like the slippery texture of the kway teow! smile

Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced tea is a must order whenever I dine in at a Thai restaurant! I like that the one here is really authentic with just the right amount of milk, sugar and thai tea leaves smile
Kuay Tiew Rua

Kuay Tiew Rua

As this is our first time here, we decided to follow the Chef's recommendation on the menu and ordered their Kuay Tiew Rua served in soup with beef. There is also an option to have it dry and pork instead of beef. I like the soft slippery boat noodles and tender beef slices! The soup is full of flavour as well tongue
Hors d'oeuvre Nara

Hors d'oeuvre Nara

Another recommended item is the Hors d'oeuvre Nara, which is a platter mixture of Pandan Chicken, Fish Cakes, Bbq Chicken and Pomelo Prawn salad! All the ingredients were good especially the pandan chicken!
DIY Coconut Icecream

DIY Coconut Icecream

Ending off our dinner with dessert, we ordered the I-Thim Nara, which is essentially Coconut icecream served with various condiments. I was stunned to see the staff carrying a huge tray to our table! I had a fun time designing my own coconut icecream and they were really generous with the amount of toppings!

Fried carrot cake sticks! Smile Jan 26, 2014

$1.50 for 9pcs

$1.50 for 9pcs

The fried carrot cake sticks has got to be my favourite oily chinese snack! My mom loves them too and we would always buy a pack or two depending on what we had for breakfast. Anyway, this is my first time trying these carrot cake sticks and it was so good! The sticks are slightly longer than the usual ones and it was so shiok to eat it on the spot! Really crispy and yummy! We also takeaway a few pieces of the rectangular shaped carrot cake which were so-so only. The carrot cake sticks here are a must-try!
