My friends & I were looking for a place to have desserts after our dinner! MU Parlour is located at the 2nd storey on a row of shophouses. As we walk up the stairs, we were greeted by this pretty looking door.

MU Parlour serves freshly baked pastries, gourmet burgers and cocktails. A row of cakes were seen on the display counter and we took quite awhile to decide on which cakes to get. Settled on the Carrot Cake and Salted Caramel Tart. The carrot cake feels light and tender and the layers of cream cheese makes it so addictive I can eat the whole slice myself, one of the better carrot cakes I have tasted so far! I was excited to try the salted caramel tart as it had a layer of Valrhona dark chocolate ganache! I love the combination of caramel and dark chocolate but the chocolate in this tart was too overpowering that I couldn't really taste the caramel. Between the two, I prefer the carrot cake!
Chocolate & Salted Caramel Tart $8, Carrot Cake $6

We got window seats that overlook the streets of Holland Village, great for people watching! I love both the interior and exterior decor of this cafe, very chic, simple yet elegant at the same time. I would love to try our their gourmet burgers next time! tongue

Awesome jap lunch combo Smile Sep 14, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

Nana Green Tea is offering a promotional weekday set lunch combo from 11am to 2.30pm. You get to choose a main course and a beverage (priced $8 and below) at only $13.90! This is a super good deal, considering the fact that most of their mains are priced $13 and above! I was there around 12pm and the restaurant is very spacious and quite empty, however customers started strolling in after awhile and the place got more packed. Our orders arrived very fast, almost within 5 minutes!
Salmon Maguro Don

Salmon Maguro Don

As usual being a salmon lover, the Salmon Maguro Don instantly caught my attention! It is a mixture of salmon and tuna sashimi! The sashimi slices were so fresh and tasty and it is served over warm rice topped with sesame oil, nori, pickled ginger, spring onion and a drizzle of mayonnaise sauce. It also comes with a side serving of sesame sauce to pour over the salmon maguro don.
Matcha Chocolate Latte & Azuki Kuromitsul

Matcha Chocolate Latte & Azuki Kuromitsul

Being a matcha lover and as the restaurant name suggest that matcha is their specialty, obviously I had to order a matcha drink! There were so many choices to choose from and I decided on the Matcha Chocolate latte! It comes with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Perfect bittersweet combination! Besides matcha drinks, there is also a wide range of hojicha and azuki drinks to choose from! The Azuki Kuromitsul is like a red bean latte topped with whipped cream and brown sugar syrup. Not bad but I still have a preference for matcha flavoured ones! tongue
Mabushi Don

Mabushi Don

The Mabushi Don comprises of unagi, nori and spring onions garnished over a bed of warm Japanese rice. After salmon, unagi ranks second! I especially like the sweet sauce glazed over the slices of unagi. I love the ambience, food, pricing and service! Definitely coming back here for more!! smile

Heavenly!! Icecream Smile Sep 12, 2013

Lychee Martini & Black Rose, $7.80

Lychee Martini & Black Rose, $7.80

My friend working at Gardens by the Bay recommended me to try Seventh Heaven's icecream if I ever go there one day. As my mom took leave from work today, I decided to bring her to the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest here! After we were done visiting both attractions, we saw the Seventh Heaven kiosk just right outside Cloud Forest. The outlet here only offer takeaway, however you can sit at this really long bench near the kiosk. There were quite a few flavours and all look so enticing. Eventually settled on Lychee Martini and Black Rose flavour. The Black Rose is a combination of dark chocolate with a tinge of rose flavour. My mom absolutely love the Lychee Martini! Same goes for me tongue It cost $7.80 for 2 flavours and I feel that it is very worth it for the large serving size. The icecream is also very thick and by far the best icecream I have ever tasted in Singapore! lol

Best sliced fish bee hoon! Smile Sep 11, 2013

Sliced Fish Beehoon, $4.50

Sliced Fish Beehoon, $4.50

After having our tea break at one of the cafes around Duxton area, my friend & I decided to have dinner at Maxwell Food Centre since we were nearby! Maxwell Food Centre is pretty popular as you can find a few famous food stalls there and one of them is Jin Hua Fish Head Bee Hoon. There was already a long queue when we arrive and it did not went away even after we left the place. We queued for around 15 minutes and while queuing, our order was taken at the same time. Efficient! This bowl of fish bee hoon is the best I have ever tasted and it was totally worth queuing for. The fish was thick and soft and they gave a reasonable number of fish slices. The milky broth tasted just right. My friend & I literally finish up the whole bowl! However, the food centre is not properly ventilated and it was really hot, the both of us sweated like crazy! Even so, it will not stop me from coming back for more!

Hidden cafe Smile Jul 24, 2013

I would say that Kooka Cafe is a hidden gem located around Bugis area! It is located at the very far end of Purvis Street, and I guess not many know of this cafe yet. As everywhere else was crowded, my group of friends and I decided to have dinner here! The menu is fairly simple, offering a few choices of sandwiches, wraps, salads, cakes and drinks. Most of the food items are below $15. I love the atmosphere of this cafe, it feels very relaxed, cosy and warm. I ordered a Tuna Wrap, which came with a side salad and fries. Their sandwiches and wraps are priced within the range of $7-9 and their coffee $5-6. I will come back again most probably to try their lunch sets and cakes! tongue
