Quality soup at a Hawker! Smile Mar 16, 2014

Pumpkin Soup, $5.20

Pumpkin Soup, $5.20

I came across a review on this shop on 8 days online and it went into my list of to-go food places to check out! As I just had stitches on my chin, soup would be the easiest to eat. I took the opportunity to check out this stall and there is a range of soup available from vegetarian options like Carrot & Cumin, Forest Mushroom soup etc to meat options like Chicken Stew & Brandy, Beef Stew & Red Wine soup etc.

16oz!

16oz!

I absolutely love pumpkin and immediately decided on having the Pumpkin & Ginger soup when I saw it on the menu board. Although it is located at a hawker, the presentation and taste of the soup is excellent! The pumpkin soup is so thick and creamy with real chunks of pumpkin inside! A bread roll with butter is also included and at 16oz priced between $4.80 to $6, the soup bar is giving other soup stalls a run for its money!!

Back to my favourite Jap bakery! Smile Feb 13, 2014

Whenever I'm around Novena area, I have to drop by this bakery!! It is my favourite bakery thus far and I really wish it's near my house!
Greentea Azuki Loaf, $2.20

Greentea Azuki Loaf, $2.20

I love the flavour of matcha and bought the half loaf of the Greentea Azuki loaf (as I'm the only one in my family who loves that flavour). Anyway, they also have other flavours available and the half loaf is 5 slices while the whole loaf is 10. The matcha flavour is very light actually but makes a good combination with the azuki beans!

I have always wanted to try their Pumpkin bun and was happy that they were selling it that day smile I also bought the Greentea chestnut anpan and had both for breakfast the next day!

I really like that this bakery is not stingy with the amount of filling at all! Both of my buns are filled with pumpkin and azuki-chestnut goodness tongue
I also bought for my mom the Coconut De Melaka ($1.50) and Raisin Almond ($1.50) buns for her breakfast! She love both buns and also agreed on the quality and the generous amount of filling! I will definitely be back again! lol

Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced tea is a must order whenever I dine in at a Thai restaurant! I like that the one here is really authentic with just the right amount of milk, sugar and thai tea leaves smile
Kuay Tiew Rua

Kuay Tiew Rua

As this is our first time here, we decided to follow the Chef's recommendation on the menu and ordered their Kuay Tiew Rua served in soup with beef. There is also an option to have it dry and pork instead of beef. I like the soft slippery boat noodles and tender beef slices! The soup is full of flavour as well tongue
Hors d'oeuvre Nara

Hors d'oeuvre Nara

Another recommended item is the Hors d'oeuvre Nara, which is a platter mixture of Pandan Chicken, Fish Cakes, Bbq Chicken and Pomelo Prawn salad! All the ingredients were good especially the pandan chicken!
DIY Coconut Icecream

DIY Coconut Icecream

Ending off our dinner with dessert, we ordered the I-Thim Nara, which is essentially Coconut icecream served with various condiments. I was stunned to see the staff carrying a huge tray to our table! I had a fun time designing my own coconut icecream and they were really generous with the amount of toppings!

Durian Snow Ice, $5

Durian Snow Ice, $5

My mom and I were walking around Chinatown and needed a break from all the walking! Settled down at Mei Heong Yuen Dessert stall which is located along the row of shop houses. I heard that the shaved ice here is good and being durian lovers, we ordered their Durian Shaved Ice! I am pretty amazed and curious on how they incorporate the durian flavour into the shaved ice. Anyway, I love the super soft shaved ice that literally melts in your mouth and the generous amount of durian sauce drizzled all over it! It is really shiok to have it on a hot day and both of us were so satisfied! lol

Orange-peel Sour Plum, $1.50

Orange-peel Sour Plum, $1.50

If you are at Whampoa market, you have to try this orange-peel and sour plum drink, which comes with a cup of ice water. The stall owner is very friendly and nicely explain to me that I have to drink till the middle of the cup, and then add some more ice water, stir and drink again and continue the cycle until I finish it all! I felt so bloated after finishing the drink! At only $1.50 per cup, this is super worth it with the generous amount of orange peel served on top the sour plum drink, which is very refreshing and perfect on a hot day! I like it so much I even bought home a bottle of the concentrate($3), which has no expiry date and I can make 10 cups out of it! lol
