Paper Thosai

Paper Thosai

This indian stall used to be at Makan Bagus, which is located just next block from the Tampines Round Market. They recently took over a stall at the round market and I decided to try their Paper Thosai again. I didn't had a good impression the previous time when they were operating at Makan Bagus as the paper thosai turned out looking like plain thosai. This time, I am happy that they improve their standard and the Paper Thosai is crispy and good! lol

One of my friends was craving for ramen and we decided to try this restaurant!
Dry Ramen

Dry Ramen

I ordered their Dry Ramen which is basically ramen, minced chicken, vegetables and their special sauce. I was disappointed with the noodles as it tasted like maggi and was kind of bland. The minced chicken was just so-so.
Super Spicy Ramen

Super Spicy Ramen

Spicy Minced Chicken Ramen

Spicy Minced Chicken Ramen

My other two friends had the Super Spicy ramen and Spicy Minced Chicken ramen. Both of them was also disappointed and agreed with me that the ramen tasted like maggi mee! They also commented that the broth lack taste.
Soda Drinks

Soda Drinks

I guess the only positive part is their iced soda! sad

Wanton Noodles, $3

Wanton Noodles, $3

I specially came to Tiong Bahru market for lunch to try this famous wanton noodle stall! They are well known for their 'never see sky' char siew premium cut and never fails to sell out before 1 pm everyday! You have to come really early! I wanted to reach before lunch time but I was late and it was already close to 1 pm. The 'never see sky' char siew is a nicer name for the pig's armpit part of the char siew. There was already a long queue and true enough, the premium cut is already sold out a few orders before my turn and they are only left with the normal char siew. I manage to try their $3 char siew wanton mee and the people behind me didn't get the chance and had to settle with their chicken noodles. The plate of wanton noodles look so ordinary but the taste is superb! I love that the noodles are full of flavour and not tangled with one another at all. The normal char siew is already nice and I couldn't imagine how their premium cut must taste like! I will definitely be back to try their Grade A char siew! lol

Good for their Sweet paus OK Feb 24, 2014

Yam Pau, $0.70

Yam Pau, $0.70

I never quite knew the existence of Kong Guan Pau until I notice a few purple coloured paus at the dim sum stall at my school's canteen. I guess it to be yam flavour and true enough, it was! I love yam and ordered one straight away! Surprisingly, the yam filling is quite dense and I love it smile There is a board listing the other paus like charsiew, chicken, red bean, lotus, honey chicken etcetc, quite a range actually!
Honey Chicken Pau, $0.70

Honey Chicken Pau, $0.70

Lotus Paste Pau, $0.70

Lotus Paste Pau, $0.70

The next day, I bought the Honey Chicken & Lotus Paste pau for breakfast! I wanted Sweet Corn initially but they didn't have it. Anyway, the honey chicken taste is nice but the amount of filling is quite little compared to the skin. As for the lotus paste pau, the filling is dense just like the yam pau!
Black Pepper Chicken Pau, $0.70

Black Pepper Chicken Pau, $0.70

I wanted to give their Savoury paus another try and bought this Black Pepper Chicken pau for snack during one of the breaks on another day. True enough, the filling is little and not as good as their Sweet range paus. I shall try their sweet range corn pau next time tongue

Strong Viet coffee OK Feb 19, 2014
Categories : Vietnamese | Café

Vietnam is known for being one of the largest coffee producers in the World! I've been to Vietnam once a few years ago and I love their coffee! However, you really need a fair bit of patience as theirs is the 'drip coffee' type whereby they brew one cup at a time in small filter devices that sit on top of the cup. The estimated waiting time is between 7 to 10 minutes.
Creative 3 & Creative 4

Creative 3 & Creative 4

Trung Nguyen drink menu offers the normal Cappucino and Latte coffees as well as their specialty which are known as 'Creative 1' to 'Creative 7' with 1 being the mildest to 7 being the strongest. I tried their iced coffee before which was not bad! This time, I had the Creative 4 which is a little strong for me and I will most probably try their Creative 1 or 2 next time smile
