Indian dinner Smile Mar 16, 2014

After a long time at the Expo fair, we were famished and quickly decided on having dinner at this restaurant. My mom loves Jeera Rice ($4.40), which I also like as it is basmati rice mixed with cumin, which had more flavour than the normal rice. We ordered the chef's recommendation, Shahi Malai Koft ($13.90) which is mixed vegetables and cottage cheese dumplings simmered in almond sauce and the Kashmiri Rogan Josh ($16.90), which consist of lamb mixed with fresh ground spices in a rich stew of onions. I love the almond sauce, which was so creamy and just perfect to have it with the cottage cheese dumplings. The pieces of lamb were very tender too!
Kashmiri Naan

Kashmiri Naan

My dad recommended me to try the Kashmiri Naan ($4.90), which is filled with sweet fruit and nuts. I was excited to try it as I usually have the butter or garlic naan. I love this naan and I can just eat it on it's own without any sauce! However, I'll only recommend it to those who have a sweet tooth. We also ordered the Tandoori Roti ($3.30), which is a whole wheat bread cooked in tandoori. Almost all the dishes we had were good and it was a satisfying dinner smile

HK Summer Milk Tea

HK Summer Milk Tea

Their iced summer milk tea is pretty innovative and interesting as it is served in a flask with steam coming out from a small hole in the centre. I was initially afraid that it is a gimmick where it just looks good with the taste being comprised but thankfully, the milk tea is smooth and thick! tongue
Lemongrass Chicken Chop Rice & Pork Chop Cheese Baked Rice

Lemongrass Chicken Chop Rice & Pork Chop Cheese Baked Rice

I had the Lemongrass Black Pepper Chicken Chop Rice, and was quite disappointed with the chicken chop as the meat was very little and my plate was just basically filled with rice. The vegetables were slightly hard too. The only thing nice is the sauce. The Pork Chop in the Cheese Baked Rice also didn't had much meat. However, the cheese was nice and it came with a garlic baguette, which was not too bad.

This coffeeshop is solely owned by Fei Fei Wanton Noodle, with a small drink stall at the corner. I was there rather early and it was not packed.

It looks really plain when it was served originally and the ingredients were all at the bottom!
Wanton Noodles, $4

Wanton Noodles, $4

This is after mixing. There were 2 steamed wantons, 2 fried wantons, char siew and vegetables. I prefer the egg noodles with plain sauce compared to the dark sauce ones. As I have a low tolerance for chilli, I requested for it to be served separately, otherwise they will just put it on your spoon. The chilli was not too spicy and I mixed it together with the noodles if not it would be kinda bland. I wonder what's the hype about this wanton mee stall as the ingredients were all really average and the wantons were so small! Also, the texture of the noodles were a little on the hard side.
There is actually another Fei Fei Wanton Noodle stall opposite and I'll give that a try the next time I'm around the area.

Shoyu Ramen, $6.50

Shoyu Ramen, $6.50

I have always wanted to check out this hawker stall that serves quality ramen at affordable prices! They used to be called Homebaked Dough but recently changed their name to Brothers Ramen. I arrived there during lunch hour and the coffeeshop was packed! However, this stall had no queue and I wondered why. Anyway, they offer a range of ramen like Chashu ramen, Shoyu ramen, etc and even a Dry ramen. I ordered the Shio ramen, which is a Tonkotsu Shio soup base consisting of cha shu, seaweed, spring onions, mushrooms and red ginger.
Add Egg, +$0.50

Add Egg, +$0.50

I added an egg for an additional of 50cents, which was so worth it as it turn out to be a flavoured kind of egg, not the normal ones. I love the texture of the noodles, which was very springy and cooked just right! The chashu is soft and the soup is full of flavour! I felt really satisfied after having such a delicious bowl of ramen and it's priced so reasonably!

Quality soup at a Hawker! Smile Mar 16, 2014

Pumpkin Soup, $5.20

Pumpkin Soup, $5.20

I came across a review on this shop on 8 days online and it went into my list of to-go food places to check out! As I just had stitches on my chin, soup would be the easiest to eat. I took the opportunity to check out this stall and there is a range of soup available from vegetarian options like Carrot & Cumin, Forest Mushroom soup etc to meat options like Chicken Stew & Brandy, Beef Stew & Red Wine soup etc.

16oz!

16oz!

I absolutely love pumpkin and immediately decided on having the Pumpkin & Ginger soup when I saw it on the menu board. Although it is located at a hawker, the presentation and taste of the soup is excellent! The pumpkin soup is so thick and creamy with real chunks of pumpkin inside! A bread roll with butter is also included and at 16oz priced between $4.80 to $6, the soup bar is giving other soup stalls a run for its money!!
