Fullouse Signature might sound familiar to you as they used to have one of their theme restaurant branches in Hotel Rendezvous. Back then it was already are popular spot for couples to have their photoshoots done in the beautifully designed restaurant.

They have now since re-open as Fullhouse Signature Restaurant in Clarke Quay with a even bigger place and elaborate setup for to woo customers back into their cafe.

I managed to try out a few dishes there and i have quite a few recommended items!
FRENCH ONION SOUP

FRENCH ONION SOUP

A tad on the salty side, I still find myself slurping up this soup which comes with chunks of soft boiled onions! Definitely taste better when you soak the garlic bread into the soup, which is how traditionally house the french onion soup is presented.
SGD 9
CRUNCHY CHEESE STICKS

CRUNCHY CHEESE STICKS

Fried till golden brown, with cheesy strands oozing from it, this is a starter which will definitely catch your eye as you glance through the menu. Do eat this as soon as you can before it turns soggy!
SGD 11
GOLDEN CRABMEAT BALL

GOLDEN CRABMEAT BALL

Dabbed in mayonnaise, it is definitely a joy to bite into the crunch golden balls which are packed with crab meat fillings! If you are a seafood love, then I would recommend this dish to you!
ITALIAN MEATBALL

ITALIAN MEATBALL

This is such a meatly man dish! As I am not really a fan of meatballs, I didnt fancy it much. However I can totally imagine Chris Hemsworth biting into this and throwing the plate on the floor roaring “MORE” in true Thor fashion.

Definitely a flavorsome dish which is served with 4 big fat juicy well seasoned scallops! If you are scratching your head over which pasta to order, this is definitely one of the recommended ones.
GRILLED CHICKEN CHOP W RAISIN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE

GRILLED CHICKEN CHOP W RAISIN BLACK PEPPER SAUCE

One of my favorite dishes in Fullhouse, the chicken was grilled till tender and the additional of raisins with the dish was a nice touch to the black pepper sauce. Definitely a generous dish, all of us were exclaiming about the portion size!
SGD 25
HAM AMATRICIANA

HAM AMATRICIANA

Definitely a spicy dish, but some of my friend found this too spicy to bear. I personally found it ok, but don’t be surprise if your nose runs a little ;)
SGD 20
PIRI PIRI CHICKEN

PIRI PIRI CHICKEN

With sweet and spicy sauce coated all across the chicken, it was such a flavorsome dish which all my friends were happily stealing a bite from! The meat was soft and tender, unlike other places where I am subjected to eating dry overdone chicken.
SGD 25

VERDICT

Fullhouse signature is definitely a place to head if you looking to wow your friends with the beautifully design interiors. It would be great for special occasions like birthdays, proposals or any form of celebratory events. The staff there are passionate about their work and would definitely offer a helping hand if required.

I personally feel that the food prices are reasonable given relaxing ambiance of this dining establishment, and how they try to make it a very interactive place for friends to enjoy their meal. There are definitely some hits and misses with the food, but one thing I cant deny is that they are definitely generous with their portions.

Jalan Besar's Pig Organ Soup Smile Feb 14, 2014

Categories : Teochew | Coffeeshop | Chinese Soup

A lazy Sunday afternoon prompted us to explore somewhere new and we decided to head over to Jalan Bedar for lunch before doing a little cafe hopping. Initial plan was Lavender food court, but seeing there was no crowd at the popular Cheng Mun Chee Kee, we decided to pop over there instead!
PIG ORGAN SOUP

PIG ORGAN SOUP

PIG ORGAN SOUP

PIG ORGAN SOUP

Packed with all sorts of innards, lean meat, meatballs, tofu and salted vegetables, this is the signature dish of the shop! It is a good bowl of soup without the porky taste and smell, guaranteeing it of freshness.

The only thing I would pick at is that it is lacking in the sour factor so I was a little bit disappointed. When pair with the vinegar pork trotters, the taste also appears to be muted.

SGD 5.50
VINEGAR PORK TROTTERS

VINEGAR PORK TROTTERS

We decided to order this after a steaming hot bowl passed us and the strong fragrance had our eyes and nose trailing after it! If you love your vinegar to be super sour, then this will be for you!

I am not a fan for ginger smell and I am glad that the scent of ginger was delicate and subtle rather than intrusive. The portions as you can see are generously packed full of soft meat plus a whole egg!

DRIPS SPECIALTY COLD DRIP COFFEE

DRIPS SPECIALTY COLD DRIP COFFEE

GREEN TEA LATTE

GREEN TEA LATTE

Green foamy rice matcha latte. I enjoyed this little cuppa goodness as i chatted about the day's activities with my friends.
BLACKBERRY ALMOND TART

BLACKBERRY ALMOND TART

Looking for something fruity? Theblackberry almond tart caught our eye and it wasn't too bad. I wish it was served hot though. Somehow the lukewarm temperature made it a little less appealing.
BROWNIE & ICE CREAM

BROWNIE & ICE CREAM

Initially I didn’t pay attention to the brownies which were placed in the counter, but they turn out so good! What I thought would be a dry cardboard like brownie turn out to have a beautiful crust encompassing the chewy fudge interior. This is a definite recommendation.

If you are looking for something savory, you can also opt for the pastries and quiches which are available there smile

Looking for cheap and good dinner place to bring your overseas friends to? Look no further cause today I am going to introduce one of my favorite go-to places when I have foreign colleagues in town!

Two Chefs Eating Place started in Commonwealth Crescent before opening a 2nd outlet at Sin Ming Ave(Bishan). The Commonwealth outlet is still the most popular one, so I decided to head there instead! Brought my family out for dinner and we happily order quite a few dishes.
DRUNKEN COCKLES

DRUNKEN COCKLES

You will see this signature dish popping up on different tables as an appertiser before the meal. Served cold and lightly cooked, this is a dish which people are usually aware off due to its half raw nature. However, dont shy away from it cause it is SO FREAKING YUMMY that you see a non-cockle eating me happily slurping the flesh of the shells!

Tangy sour and crazy fragrant from the ginger, chilli and spring onions, it is no wonder a signature dish at this eating place.

SGD 6
SPINACH WITH 3 EGG

SPINACH WITH 3 EGG

This was bland and watery. Definitely not a recommended item.
HERBAL CHICKEN SOUP

HERBAL CHICKEN SOUP

It was a soup which we almost didn’t order. Lucky we did cause it was so flavoursome! The chicken was so tender soft that the meat can easily break apart when I was scooping the soup. With a strong herbal after-taste, you will savor each bowl with especially during this rainy season.

SGD 8
GOLDEN MUSHROOM BEANCURD

GOLDEN MUSHROOM BEANCURD

One of the favourites that nigh, drench your rice with the savory brown sauce cooked with soft bean curd and golden mushroom and you will be sure to slurp up every single bit of this dish.

SGD 8 (small)
SIN CHOW BEE HOON

SIN CHOW BEE HOON

My dad, king of sensitive tastebuds love the beehoon even though I found it tasteless. He claim it has the “wor hei” burnt wok smell which makes it extra fragrant. I dont really fancy this dish, but they are definitely not stingy with the ingredients!

SGD 7 (Medium Size)

BUTTER PORK RIBS

The picture which I had of the dish was so blur but so yummy that I just have to mention about it! Soft slices of spare ribs are coated with sweet milk powder, I bet the little kids at the table will be sure to love this dish!

SGD 10

VERDICT

Definitely a great place to head to for family dinner with affordable offerings and great dishes. You would want to be there before 7pm where the dinner crowds starts to form a queue. The queue usually clears quite fast and the moment your butt is planted on your seat, the dishes will materialize in front you of you within 15 minutes!

Cheap and tasty food Smile Feb 14, 2014

Vintage Chef is nested in between HDB blocks and braddell road. It isn’t particularly hard to get there but it needs some familiarisation for driverssmile

The decor of the place wasn’t particularly attractive, where there were 2 huge tomato sauce cans placed next to the cashier and a smattering of pails of dirty dishes near to the store front. Not really the most welcoming sight to be honest.
Pork Piccata

Pork Piccata

Generous in amount, It was nicely flavoured and beautifully plated with vegetable garnish top it off. It taste as good as it looks, though the pork was slightly over-cook which made it a little tough to chew on.

SGD 8.00
PAN- SEARED FISH WITH LEMON AND WHITE WINE SAUCE

PAN- SEARED FISH WITH LEMON AND WHITE WINE SAUCE

Cooked till tender soft with not a hint of dryness, the texture of this dish was pretty good. However it tasted a little bland, in which a little more lemon juice could be added to the sauce. Compared to the pork piccata, this dish turns out a little lacklustre.

SGD 5.50

VERDICT

Vintage Chef seems to be taking the route which the ever- successful Aston and Saveur has tread before. Setting up shop at a coffee shop serving quality western food at low affordable prices. However Aston is known for their consistency, well flavoured food and quick turn around time for their dishes. This is something which I feel Vintage Chef still need to work on. There were only 2 pax before me but it probably took 15-20 mins before the food was served.

Although I don’t really get the “Italian Feel” from Vintage Chef, they do serve up a pretty good, and really affordable western food for a kopitiam stall. Still a place worth visiting, I would probably be back the next time to try out their pasta dishes!
