Gong Gong Bye Cry Jun 18, 2013
Categories : Seafood | Zi Char | Kids-Friendly

For a place like Owen seafood where they are known for their freshness and high quality, I was surprised to taste some odd muddy flavour in the Gong Gong in Gong Bao sauce. The strong tasting sauce was not even enough to hide it. It wasn't very pleasant although I was able to ignore it if I eat with some rice. For a basic dish, the freshness of the seafood is essential hence I was slightly disappointed.

Very BAD sandwich Cry Jun 12, 2013

This is a really bad sandwich! This is the bacon and mushroom sandwich which should tastes pretty awesome (how can you go wrong with the combination?) but it is dry like the Sahara Desert! The bacon was tough, and the mushroom had NO MOISTURE at all! You combine that with the bread (the bread tastes okay) and I was wishing for a bowl of soup to dunk the sandwich in! Not cheap, dry, and UNSATISFYING! huffy

Too Sweet to Handle Cry Jun 12, 2013

I'm quite disappointed with the pancakes at Seventh Heaven. The place looks so packed and the menu looks really good with a large variety of desserts (after all it is a dessert place) but the pancakes tasted like it was reheated out of a package. Don't expect any fresh pancakes. The ice cream (Rocky Road) was SO SWEET that I can barely make out the chocolate flavour. I just tasted sugar. I would prefer more taste to my desserts rather than eating sugary sweet things. sad

Beef in the City Cry Jun 11, 2013

I love beef so I was happy to see that Sushi Tei has this beef strips that I can book on a hot stone plate. But this beef comes marinated in some sauce (tasted like Teriyaki sauce) and they heat up a hot plate for you. Melt some butter on the plate and cook the meat. I didn't like the marination too much as I think it kinda takes away the beef flavour rather than adds to it. A tad overpowering. sad

Expensive Burger Cry Jun 06, 2013

Market Grill is a little restaurant tucked away in a corner along Telok Ayer street. The place is really really SMALL and there are very limited seats (and they don't do reservation) so go early if you can. I tried their beef burger and it is very normal. Seriously, there is nothing memorable about it. I didn't even think it was all that good. The patty was quite thin and you have more mushroom and bacon more than anything else. I prefer the BK burger over this as it doesn't cost as much and taste better.
