Not my fav Jap Cry Jun 04, 2013

I heard good reviews of Ootoya and chose to try the Torotoro set which is like scallop steamed in a steamer on top of rice with some thick soup. I didn't like this much. Firstly the scallop and rice didn't have much taste and the soup feels quite starchy and gelatinous. The soup is super salty so I'm not sure if we are meant to mix the rice and the soup together. Ultimately I ended up eating something like "mui fan". Not really what I expected. Plus there were so many people queuing that it was very difficult to get the staff's attention. sad

Super Duck  Smile Jun 04, 2013

This place has one of the best peking duck I've tasted! You have to order this in advance or else you risk going to the restaurant and finding out that they've sold out all the ducks! It is that good! A chef will come and personally slice the duck in front of you. The smell is incredible and firstly the topmost skin will be placed on one dish, followed by the meat in another. You eat it wrapped in egg roll skin, with some cucumber and dip the duck in their sauce. Very tasty and good for a bigger gathering.

Japan in Orchard Smile Jun 04, 2013

Wasabi Tei is this quaint tiny Japanese restaurant at Far East Plaza. The place is small and only has counter seats yet it is usually full house during lunch and dinner. It feels like a real authentic Japanese eatery. I ordered the sushi cone (I don't remember the name) which has Salmon, California (Avacado) and tuna. The fish was so fresh! Thick slices (not stingy at all) and you can taste the quality. Good eats!

Louisiana Chicken  Smile Jun 04, 2013

Popeye's is my Achilles heel! Whenever I walk past the place, the smell itself would tempt me so much! My favorite is their classic 2 piece chicken meal with biscuit and mash potato. The chicken is fried till crispy perfection and was super juicy. Plus the portion is big so guaranteed fullness. Their mash potato is one of the best! The gravy is fantastic with the smooth mash and I would eat this on its own without any meal. Pair with a cool drink and you have a very (sinful) but good meal.

Thai Way Cry Jun 04, 2013

Hidden in Sembawang is this Thai eatery call Thai To Go. My friends wanted to try out this place but it wasn't very well known and not very easy to find if you don't know the area well. I had the Thai Green curry chicken with rice. The green curry was so-so. It didn't taste strong enough of curry and the chicken was overcooked. However, it was not too spicy which is good for those who can't take very spicy food.
