Salad & Fried dumpling

Salad & Fried dumpling

We had lunch at Din Tai Fung at MBS during weekend and its a long queue as always...
We ordered fried shrimp with veggies dumpling and it was served hot and crispy.
I really liked it a lot. Not too oily and its healthy even its fried.
We also ordered the cold salad as a starter while waiting for the main dishes.
Totally the food is served well and the ambiance is very good.

Fish & Chips

Fish & Chips

Fish is chips is served nice. Crispy fired fish and served with cheesy fries. Although the fries is a bit cold maybe due to too many people eating that time.
Salad

Salad

This is the salad with vinaigrette dressing. The leaves are very fresh and moist. You can choose the dressing that you like according to your mood.
They have caesar salad, thousand island & the vinaigrette.

Tom Yam Soup

Was there with my colleagues for lunch. Decided to try out the Thailand No1 restaurant that has just open in Singapore ION orchard. The first impression is that the restaurant seems very high class with very nice interior.

My colleague proceed to order several dishes where we ate with rice like Zi char.tongue

We try the omelette with crab meat, some mixed vegetables with oyster sauce, tom yam kung, Thai fish cake and others.

We waited for at least 30 mins because the place was packed during lunch. The first to arrived is the omelette which is nothing to shout about. Then the tom yam kung seems nice enough and the prawns are quite big. The vegetables are not too oily and then came a surprise as the green curry came which we did not order. Overall the food is quite good but for a restaurant of their reputation, i think we deserve better.

The service overall is ok just that the waiting time is too long between dishes as some of my colleagues waited with some rice left so that we can try the other dishes with rice. Water was topped up quite frequently and service staff is friendly.

Red Bean with XO brandy

Went there for client visit. Was hungry since did not eat my lunch. So pass by this Baba king which from the name should be selling Peranakan food. I would say Peranakan food are the true authentic Singaporean cusine.

When i first went in, saw the beautiful interior and feel super nice.

Then i proceed to order their signature dish, Devil curry which comes in bento set for single person which is thoughtful as we might not be able to finish if by ala carte and also the Burbur Hitam with XO brandy. Real brandy as they pour the liquor in front of me. Dont worry you will not get drunk.lol

When my order came, the aroma of the curry hits you immediately. Im drooling already.tongue

The sides are good, the achar is nice and the long beans are well cooked. Then i proceed to taste the devil curry. shocked No words can describe it when the tender beef which is cooked for a long time. its spicy but not till it will burn your tongue.

After a wonderful main course, i started to eat the burbur hitam which is surprisingly refreshing and the XO brandy really goes well with it. What genius!lol

The service was also excellent as the owner himself who is extremely friendly and knowledgeable chats with me. I realised he loved to chat with his customers to ensure his quality of food are well received. He told me that opening a restaurant has been his passion and other than that, he also have a catering and frozen food which is distributed in NTUC. All are serving Peranakan food.

Will definitely bring my family to try this hidden gem.

Kueh Chap

Kueh Chap

This is the kuay chap. If you're going to eat in the shop, expect to have a small serving of Kuay Chap.
However, if you go buy and take away, it will be surpisingly a lot of serving, with the reason of I dont know why.

Overall, it is nice and cheap. After drinking, it also nice to eat as well. Worth the wait and worth the money!
