Nice Pork Ribs Smile Aug 21, 2013

It is located right opposite Tiong Bahru Market. It is an old school Chinese restaurant that has been in operation since 1996(if I am not mistaken as you can see the title putted as 1996). If you google online, you can find many review, those who commented disappointingly mainly said the standard dropped a lot. For me as a 1st timer, I feel it is consider quite a good experience, i just have to avoid ordering certain food for my next visit. We spent $164.20 for 9 of us.

Signature Homemade Toufu($20++), when I heard about the signature toufu, my impression was a big slice of fried toufu with the fried mince meat on top. I was wrong when it was served like below. The toufu tasted silky smooth yet firm and the gravy is nice. They used some mixed vegetables and I even saw sea cucumber in the dish, so kind of worry will it be very expensive? The sea cucumber tasted totally not nice, soft and there was a weird taste when I ate it.

Seafood Roll($16++), something like fried prawn paste, not much taste seafood. I don't like it

Yam Basket($24++), I love yam so I love anything that made with yam. The yam basket here is good, it is fried well so tasted cripsy and yet inside is soft. It was filled with fried chicken, prawn and mixed vegetables.

The champagne pork ribs($27++), available as a short rib (from $18, main picture) or long rib ($8 per piece) variation is a house specialty here. The fork-tender meat coated in a thick, caramelized dark brown sauce tasted with very nice smokey flavour which I like it a lot.

Butter Cereal Prawn($33++) which is highly recommended by the staff, said that it is the best and signature of the restaurant. I generally like the butter prawn very much because I like the egg floss with butter and smell is just so fragrant. Por Kee version tasted good(not the best), but I did not really taste any cereal, so it is more towards butter prawn version.

Nice Jap Food Smile Aug 21, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

I had quite sometime never been to Watami, it is one of my favourite Japanese restaurant because of the varieties and also the food here generally quite good. When I reached there, I did not see a long queue so I thought I was lucky but I noticed that they actually have the queue system. There is 3 options for you to choose, mine is 2 person so it is Option A. A waiting no will be generated for you.

Watami Salad(half) $6.80++ - I love the salad because of the combination. The most important is the sesame sauce. Great that they have half portion so I can try out more stuff.

Kankoku Butechige($16.80++) - display not the same as the picture on menu but the taste is good. It comes with vegetables and meat and noodles, good to share for 2.

Special Indian Cuisines Smile Sep 12, 2013

Categories : Indian

My colleague recommended me to this South Indian restaurant as she said the rood here are quite special if compare to other restaurant. I usually have North Indian . So this is new try for me. Arcot Nawab Restaurnt specializes in Nawabs and Nizam’s cuisines of Southern India. However, this is not all about South Indian as the region is really huge.

The food overall tasted quite nice, interesting and I found they are really quite different from North Indian North Indian have more curry sauce type while South like drier. I am not sure was it because the signature item that we ordered. Every table will be served cumin water when you dine in, 1st time I had such spice water, fresh to me but some of my friends cannot take it.

Vasantha Neer ($3) - a special drink with the combination of coconut, lemon and mint. Tasted special and good. My colleague highly recommended to me.

Mutton Briyani($8.50) and Chicken Briyani ($7.50) - not the best briyani and most of us feel mutton briyani tasted better.

Nice Pancake and Cream Smile Aug 21, 2013

I heard about this restaurant from a vegetarian colleague why sourcing the dinner place. She told the breakfast or brunch here is really nice, especially for her, so many choices for her to choose from. I did a check and found that they have a new branch at Botanical Garden. I happened planned a walk there so just nice. Initially we would like to have breakfast then walk but it was fully booked at 8:30am. So we decided to change our plan to walk 1st before the sun coming out then only go for brunch.

Scone with cream ($4), Macchiato($3) - scone was soft and smell nice especially while it served warm. The best is the cream which friend C eyeing. It has a nice milk taste which is really different from what I had tasted before elsewhere. I started loving it too.

Pancakes with Chocolate and Berries ($13) - This is highly recommended why I did a search online. I like this combination, no syrup needed. Pancake is fluffy and soft. The berries sauce was just nice to go with pancakes and of course the great cream.

Worth if 1 for 1 OK Aug 21, 2013

Project dinner at Cafe Mosaic when it had the one for one promotion for its buffet. We went on weekday buffet dinner which is $68++, $88++ for weekend. I was looking forward for this buffet, wondering what food it would served.

There are salad bar, sashimi, sushi, some cooked salad, cooked dishes, noodles and stir fried vegetables, desserts and fruits. To save my stomach space, I skipped the salad bar, tried the sashimi and prawn. They were fresh and nice. I took some sushi, average. Next I had the cooked food, not very impressive. Most tasted average. The stir fried vegetables, less taste and finally is the desserts. I love tiramisu but I got very disappointed here. Not up to my standard, the desserts were all average. The best I think is the black forest cake.

We had vegetarian in the group. The hotel can arrange such that they will prepare a set of vegetarian meal for the guest. You can choose either fried rice or noodles. We chose noodles but on the day we had dinner, we found that they actually served Indian Vegetarian - the curry paneer with prata. Tasted not bad too
