Special Indian Cuisines Smile Sep 12, 2013

My colleague recommended me to this South Indian restaurant as she said the rood here are quite special if compare to other restaurant. I usually have North Indian . So this is new try for me. Arcot Nawab Restaurnt specializes in Nawabs and Nizam’s cuisines of Southern India. However, this is not all about South Indian as the region is really huge.

The food overall tasted quite nice, interesting and I found they are really quite different from North Indian North Indian have more curry sauce type while South like drier. I am not sure was it because the signature item that we ordered. Every table will be served cumin water when you dine in, 1st time I had such spice water, fresh to me but some of my friends cannot take it.

Vasantha Neer ($3) - a special drink with the combination of coconut, lemon and mint. Tasted special and good. My colleague highly recommended to me.

Mutton Briyani($8.50) and Chicken Briyani ($7.50) - not the best briyani and most of us feel mutton briyani tasted better.

Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao Smile Aug 22, 2013

Breaktalk IHQ just one MRT stop from my office, so once Friday lunch we decided to go there and venture what is interesting about this new building. It basically have all the restaurant under BreakTalk group under one roof. You can see BreakTalk & ToastBox of course, the Din Tai Fung, Ramen Play & Food Republic. There is a cute xiao long bao mascot in front of the restaurant welcoming the guest inside.

Chili Crab Xiao Long Bao, 4pcs($5.78++) with the credit card discount. This is nice, you can taste the chili crab with your xiao long bao. New item on their menu.

Chocolate Red Bean Paste Xiao Long Bao, 6pcs($6.90++) - Filled with chocolate and red bean with the ratio like 5:5, tasted ok but the skin of the xiao long bao is too think for the layer on top. If i eat as a whole, I feel this is failed.

The rest of the food are quite standard like the chives vegetarian dumplings and stri fry spanish that we ordered, tasted good.

I found this restaurant while finding a better venue for me and my friend, one north and one west so I was thinking Botanical Garden station will be good for both of us. So I targeted the restaurant there.

Confit de canard with gratin potatoes($17) - I feel I made the correct choice to go with duck, I dun usually take duck, but my impression like French food always have this cuisines on the menu. For last French Cuisine experience, I feel the confit tasted quite good, so I ordered this time. Tasted quite different from what I had previously but this has its own great taste. I like it and the gratin potatoes tasted great too. While waiting for me, my friend ordered a 4 kind of French Cheese with Crackers($13), it comes with 4 types of cheese(Roblecuon,Polybek, Camoyek, Goat Milk) biscuits and bun. I tried hard to get the staff to tell me what is the cheese and even wrote on the paper but I failed to recognize the handwriting and they said pronunciation is hard for French. I feel not good to disturb them long so I just walked away with what I have. I tried googled the French Cheese but doesn't really match from what I got. May be you can figure out what is the cheese from the picture below. This came in complimentary, the bun tasted quite nice while served warm.http://rainfooddiary.blogspot.sg/2013/07/la-petite.html

Categories : Vietnamese

A dinner date decided before 5 mins I knocked off from work, to ease both of us, I choose Holland Village and think we just find anything there. At first, we were thinking of having steamboat but looked at the queue, we decided to go for alternative. My friend then suggested, let's go for Vietnamese food. The only restaurant with Vietnamese cuisines at Holland Village, I only know Pho Hoa.
Pho Menu

Pho Menu

Goi Cuon(Single $4.25++, Pair $7.95++) - Rolled in Vietnamese rice roll with shrimps, chicken, salad and Vietnamese Vermicelli. Tasted good but I feel expensive with a spring roll for $4.25++.

I got P3 - Steak, Brisket pho($12.95++). I got the regular pho and like the broth, tasted good for me. The steak and brisket just nice and soft. You should try the chili, it is nice too. I forgot to take the picture of the raw vegetables that used to go with the pho. Mostly is bean sprout and another unknow vegetables. Some restaurant will provide mint too but usually I won't add to my pho. There is lime which goes well with pho.
