Invited Food Tasting Smile Feb 25, 2016

This outlet is housed in the food court of The Big Box at level 3.

This grilled fish dish is tangy, slight spicy and fresh
Problem with eating fish is dealing with the fish bones.
Taste Good

I like this well-grilled eggplant dish . It retains the mositure and sponginess.

Seldom do i see Lamp chop comes in such a big portion. The calarmari was a tat oily. The lamb was slightly rubbery

Salted egg yolk pasta is a fusion dish that has western and asian touch. The egg yolk is painstalkingly sourced from Vietnam, China or Taiwan to ensure the creaminess doesnt affect the overall taste. After arrival, these eggs are further fermented for 3 days.

Overall, its a good attempt that foodies will queue to try it when the dishes is launched on 29 Feb.

Fu Lin Men Dou Lao Food tasting Smile Jan 11, 2016

Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot

Set in near a corner along North Canal Road is the 1st Macau-style Hotpot/Steamboat resturant in Singapore.
Fu Lin Men

Fu Lin Men

Fu Lin Men (FLM) is a 3 storey shophouse with comfortable modern setting.
FLM only uses fresh and live seafood ingredients to prepare our food. The interior is bright clean and spacious. Besides the undermentioned seatings, there are also a few VIP function rooms for special occasions. The big lanterns gave a elegant touch
to the overall dining experience.

There is also a option where diners can purchase a VIP card where they can  enjoy an extra 20% stored value with just a minimum top-up of only $500.

There are 4 different soup base for you to choose from. The menu is in the form of iPad, so you can easily place your order on the iPad. They have an extensive menu of appetizers, handmade creations, seafood, meats and vegetables to select from. Similar to other hotpot
joints, what you can never miss out is their concoction of sauces.

They have some cold appetizers, instant noodles, cup desserts and fruits to accompany your meal too.

The 1st dish i had was the Signature Golden Imperial Pot which was slow boiled over 12 hours with big bones, dried hams and herbs. The broth was thick, nourishing and taste real
good.

The undermentioned dish is Bountiful Blessings of Three Treasures. These are special and hard-to-find fungus/mushrooms. Costing just $28, its defintitely hard to resist not to have it!

Next is the Freshly Cultured Sea Prawns with Marbled Beef. Its so naturally sweet and tender. Yum!

Another dish that i have to recommend is the "dou lin bao with crab roe filling". Its made using fresh crab roe. Once you chew into it, the crab roe will burst out and fill your mouth with words-can’t-fully-describe umami-ness!

Topping up with dessert is bird nest. This is the typical clear syrup brid nest that you find in Singapore. Its glutinous-like texture and slight coconut flavour is a must have for dessert lovers.

Another desert worth noting is the House of Gold Pineapple Glutinous Rice. The pineapple and glutinous rice are blended in perfect proportion that can satisfy any sweet tooth.

Last, but not the least is the excellent and friendly staff. They are pretty prompt to help us and explaining the different dishes with a big smile.

Halloween Feast Smile Oct 07, 2014

Categories : American | Steaks and Grills

Happy to be invited to Special Halloween Feast!
The bubbly organisers and friendly staff are very friendly and guided us into our sitting area.
1) Pumpkin Soup
Rich, thick, creamy, was told to be made fresh specially for Halloween season only.
2) English style bacon cesar salad
Typical crispy greens with SALTY bacon.
3) King Louis Platter
Susages with onion rings and wedges, served with sweet chilli. Susage skin a bit tough. Regular finger food.
4) Meat Platter / Queens Isabelle Platter
Hearty presentation with four different meats (Roasted Beef with black pepper sauce, Premium BBQ Baby Back Ribs, English-style Pullet AND Lamb steak with Rosemary Herbs)
Will definitely score for meat-lovers!
Valued for $ as its $149++
Portion was big enough for 6-7pax instead of "for 4pax"
Plenty of delicious roasted potatoes and greens underneath the meats
Pineapples were also there to help to feel less heavy. (prefer the pineapples to be more grilled to extract out the juices and sweetness)
Our medium-rare beef was juicy and tender.
Pepper sauce wasn't too spicy, just right for us.
Goes with Dark Beer
Ribs were a specialty of King Louis.
You will wish to eat more as they were well marinated and flavourful. The meat was pretty tender and could be easily detached from the bone. Was considering to use hands to eat it as doesn't using hands to eat make it taste better..
Pullet thigh was juicy. Wish to eat more but was too full to finish them.
Lamb has room for improvement.
For dessert, we had coconut ice-cream with almond flakes. Refreshing coconut taste with crispy almond flakes. Loved to have a second helping!
