Don't bother trying Cry Nov 24, 2013

When I went to this outlet,I was quite surprised that it was rather empty. Having prior good dinning experience at liang court, I was hopeful with the food here as well. However I was rather disappointed. Although the location is easily access via public transport, the service here was almost of no existence. Perhaps this is also due to no GST and service charge thus can't expect anything in regards to the service here.
The mussels was in a really watery tomato liquid that I would not call as gravy. As a big fan of the Garlic Butter Focaccia at liang court, the focaccia here is no where near to the ones in liang court. It tasted almost like plain focaccia. The steak was rather hard but for the price paid, I guess I should not be having any complaint. Last but not least the escargots were another disappointment. Although it was really cheap as compare to many other places, the escargots were heavily laden with oil.
Overall, it was not a very pleasant dinning experience. Perhaps I have higher expectation thus resulting to my disappointment. But to be fair for the amount of money paid for this meal, I should have no complain as I was actually having Italian food in a air conditioned place with people serving me the dish. At least it is better than going to foodcourt.

Located just a bus stop away from buona vista MRT / The star vista is this coffee shop that was rather famous for their XO fish bee hoon. However I have also seen a lot of people ordering the steak thus I have decided to ordered it to try. I have ordered for a medium rare black pepper steak but when the steak arrived I was very disappointed. It was one of the worst steak even. The steak was very hard and almost well done. On top of that, the waiting time for this was also very long.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Dinner)

Located just a stone throw away from Buona Vista MRT, I have passed Owl cafe many times but never have a chance to go in untill I went there to catch up with my friend over some beverages. We ordered calamansi freeze($4.90) and Ice Gula Melaka Teh ($5). Personally I find that calamansi freeze is similiar to concentrated lime juice blended with ice thus it was very sweet and taste rather mediocre. Ice gula melaka teh was rather interesting, similiar to normal teh (milk tea) but with a twist. The gula melaka aroma and taste was rather strong. However it also means it was rather sweet. Thus we ordered a glass of water for $0.30.
Overall although I did not try any food here, I don't think I would give it another try as the service here seriously in need of huge improvement and the beverages are not really good. However I do feel that they have very nice deco especially the hanging light bulbs from the ceilings. Do note that GST & service charge is applicable!

During the month of October, there is a sweet charity program going on and thus I get to find out about bar stories as they are offering Sea salt chocolate caramel tart ($14) as one of the dish for the charity program. The chocolate tart with a pinch of sea salt sprinkled on top is served with vanilla ice cream. What so special about the ice cream is it's made from vanilla pod instead of vanilla essence. On top of that, it's not too sweet as well.

I am quite impressed by the renovation here. Although it's not a very huge place but, it has housed with a bar counter whereby you can see how the bartenders mix your drinks. On top of that, the wooden door(entrance) is those with a pulley, very much reminded me of my science class during primary school. However service crews here weren't very friendly.
Thus I think I might not go back again unless I want to try their customised cocktails.

Located at Raffles City Shopping mall basement one where there are an array of eateries, Sho Teppan is conveniently located near the city hall MRT station. During the F1 week, together with 2 other friends, we went there for dinner. We have ordered 1 Seafood shabu shabu ($17.90), 1 wagyu beef sukiyaki ($22.50) and 1 pork shabu shabu($15.90). In total, we spent $66.75 including GST and service charge.
Personally I felt that the service here wasn't too good and perhaps that's also due to lack of staff as there were only 2 staff working during the peak dinner time.
Sho Teppan has an option of letting the staff cook for you or you cook on your own when the food arrived.

The seafood served was fresh but the soup was rather bland even after cooking all the seafood.

The wagyu beef was very thinly sliced and was tender even after fully cooked.

The pork was thinly sliced as well.

Overall it was a very average dinner as the soup was bland and the meat was not seasoned. I would choose buffet steamboat over this any time for the price I am paying.

Spending per head: Approximately $22
