Below average chai tea latte OK Dec 25, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café

Orange thimble is a very quaint cafe with unique rooms of seatings. Together with 2 friends, we went to have coffee here as a lot of the cafés in tiong bahru estate were closed for Christmas. We ordered chai tea latte ($5.50), mocha ($4.50) and latte ($4.50). They have adopted the food sensor system which personally I find it very efficient as not only it prevent unnecessary queue from forming while waiting for the orders, it also allowed customers to look for a table while waiting for the orders to be ready.
However while my friends find the coffee very average, I find my chai tea latte below average as it was diluted.

Interesting mini canele  OK Dec 17, 2013

mini canele

mini canele

As i was exploring the newly opened shopping mall at Jurong East, something smelling very delicious drawn me to Johan Paris.

Johan Paris is actually a bakery from Japan and has made their first tribute in SIngapore at Westmall. As I was approaching the bakery, I also saw some mini canele baking in the oven. From what I understand from the staff, the mini croissant and the mini canele do contain a very small amount of alcohol in the ingredients used.

As i just had my dinner elsewhere, I have only bought some mini canele (100g for $3.50) to try. The mini canele was not too sweet and the crust was slightly chewy. On top of that, as it's rather bite size, you can just pop the whole canele into your mouth. In the middle, there is a custard like filling and it contains a tinge of rum in it.

Comprehensive menu! Smile Dec 11, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Chinese | Hawker Centre

Located at toa payoh lor 4 food centre, the stall is quite easily access via public transport. It takes about 15 mins walk from the Toa Payoh Mrt.

The stall is selling many items which includes chee cheong fan, soup, steamed rice, yam cake and many others.

I reached there about 12 plus but most of the items were almost sold out. The steamed rice that I ordered come with a good serving of vegetables, chicken chunks and chinese sausages chunks. The rice was fragrant and the chicken was well marinated. Overall it's really value for money as for $3.80, there are a generous portion of ingredients and the overall taste is really good. I highly recommend the chicken steamrice!!!!

Recommended Dish(es):  chicken steamed rice

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Lunch)

Very good mee suan Smile Nov 30, 2013

Located near kembagan MRT station, there is this very famous Tze Char store that sell really good black chicken soup, mee suan and tze char.

I ordered 1 mian suan soup and it came with some sliced mushroom. The soup was really flavourful and rich too!

Another must order here is the lala. Unlike lala from other place, the lala here is not stir fried with sambal chilli. Instead, it was cooked in spicy sour style which is why it's very appetising to have it!

Recommended Dish(es):  Lala, Mee Suan

Ordinary chicken wings OK Nov 30, 2013

Beside selling BBQ chicken wing, the stall also sell satay, otah and cockles. However i have only tried the chicken wings which are $1.30 each with a minimum order of at least 2 chicken wings. The stall was located at the back of Dunman food centre on level 2 but it was quite easily located as Dunman food centre is not a very big place.
The chicken wings were well marinated but were slightly on the dry side. For the price paid, I feel that there are other places with better bbq chicken wings.
