Nice aglio olio Smile Mar 10, 2014

Categories : American | Restaurant

one of my favorite dish in cafe cartel - aglio olio.
I love how the stir-fried mushroom taste. They are huge and juicy. Also, the olive oil flavored is very strong, making the pasta taste great! also, the portion is quite generous too. for a serving of pasta at restaurant, it is quite reasonably priced at sgd $14++

also, i like the service of their staffs. they are always smiling and paying attention to their customers.
indeed cafe cartel is one of my favorite place to have pasta smile

Spending per head: Approximately $16(Dinner)

Great bak tuk teh  Smile Mar 10, 2014

Categories : Bak Kut Teh

This is one of the famous bak tuk teh places in Singapore which I like it a lot. My friends and I have ordered 3 bowls of signature founders pork ribs soup, xian cai, 2 servings of you tiao, 2 serving of rice and peanuts and total bill come up to $37 which i find it quite reasonable for the standard of the food.

the soup is peppery at to the right extent. not too peppery nor too plain. and the pork ribs meat are tender and nice. xian cai and youtiao taste good too. moreover, the staff are very quick in their service to help you top up the soup.

however, do prepare to queue if you are here during peak meal timings.
overall, i feel that the standard of the food is worth the wait.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Dinner)

Awesome phad thai Smile Mar 10, 2014

was craving for thai food at lot1 and I decided to give siam kitchen a try. it was my first time there so i am not too sure what is nice and therefore i went for the safe choice -phad thai. indeed the food didnt disappoint me. the rice noodle was soft and sweet, blends when together with the seafood, peanut and chilli flakes.
however, the portion is quite small for the price (sgd $10.90++).

overall, i will be back in future to try out other ale carte dishes from this place.

Great dessert place!  Smile Mar 10, 2014

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

Back to Wimbly Lu for desserts after dining at rokeby since they are at the same street. I recommend my friends to this place as i am in love with their desserts!

We have ordered (from right) lemon meringue pie, root beer cake and chocolate lava cake. I have tried and reviewed root beer cake before and it is still as good even returning after almost half a year.
the chocolate lava cake is awesome too! Hot chocolate fudge flowing out once your spoon is scooped into the cake.

And this lemon meringue pie is our favorite!! love the lemon flavor and it isnt too sweet. the crust of the pis is very well flavored too. its a must try to me!

total bill came up to around $19 and we shared among 4 of us.
it is value for money consider the high quality of the desserts here.
will definitely come back again!

overrated cafe OK Mar 10, 2014

Categories : Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

First time at grub and i was here due to my friends recommendation. I have read online reviews and it has pretty good reviews too. Grub is located at bishan park which is a nice place to dine at after strolling in the park.

I have ordered soup of the day which is cream of mushroom and it taste rather mediocre. nothing's bad about it but nothing fantastic about it too.

For my main, i had grub cheeseburger for sgd $13++ which consists of freshly minced beef patty and fries.
The dish is also quite average and to me the portion is too small. the beefy is fresh but it could have been more well flavored.

The ambience of the cafe is quite vibrant there. Overall, i find that grub is rather overrated by its online reviews. would not specially return to grub unless i happened to be at bishan park.
