Cozy whimsical cafe Smile Oct 24, 2013
Categories : Café

tongueThis has got to be one of my favourite cafes by far. Absolutely in love with the interior decor, the whimsical swings and super romantic alfresco rooftop area.

Service was good too! The barista gave me an adorable bear latte art upon request smile

The Eggs Benedict was up to standards with an awesome tangy hollandaise sauce and perfect runny poached eggs.

However, the brownie cheesecake was a little disappointing. The brownie layer tasted more like chocolate sponge cake. The midday tea set was worth it though - just $6.50 for a cake and a cuppa coffee/tea.

Love the spacious area and also the fact that they allow students to study in peace on the top floor.

Delicious chicken wings Smile Oct 22, 2013

I really enjoyed their honey glaze chicken wings which were really cheap ($3) during happy hour which ends at 8pm.

The wide variety of craft beers here left me spoilt for choices. I love the refreshing taste of their lycee beer. Would love to try their strawberry beer on my next visit!

Love the live band performances here too - they're a duo known as Shili and Adi. Both of them had really good chemistry. Besides having amazing voices, they did a very good job at connecting with the audience too.

I come here for my dose of CHEAP desserts almost every weekend. Their home-baked goodies differ everyday and thus one will never get sick of the variety there!

I tried their quiches (which were only $2+) and their toufu cheesecake (also around $2) which were both very fantastic - light, fluffy and leaves you wanting for more.

Many people who dine-in also order a small bowl of black sesame paste which is one of their signature dishes.

During CNY, their baked goods also include traditional pastries like pineapple tarts and sugee cookies!

A packet of 6 ondeh ondeh (filled with ALOT of gula melaka) is probably half the price of those in Bengawan Solo.

Yummy fried wontons Smile Oct 22, 2013

I love the chilli and the soya sauce that Pontian uses to season its wonton noodles. Mixing in some mayonaise may sound gross but that's what I learnt from my friend and surprisingly, it tasted better!

The wantons are fried very well such that they were very crispy yet there was no trace of oil at all.

The boiled wantons in the soup were also good!

The noodles that pontian uses are also very springy, bouncy and very "Q Q"!!!

Famous sea urchin pudding Smile Oct 22, 2013

Categories : Middle Eastern/Mediterranean | Restaurant | Seafood | Steaks and Grills

When kerbside gourmet (the food truck) had a collaboration with the chefs from Lolla, in celebration of a festival at the National Museum, I knew I had to go and give their signature dish - Sea urchin on squid ink pudding, a try!!

The little cup (as high as only 8 cm) was really very puny and it costs a whopping $10. But in my opinion, size did not matter because I was mind-blown after just the first bite!!!

The squid ink pudding was tasty and the sea urchin was sweet and extremely fresh!!! Hop over to Lolla for a more generous serving.
