Fresh Seafood Smile Feb 23, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Multi-Cuisine | Seafood

I had been to PasarBella many times but didn't try their food before. There are many stalls selling a wide range of different cuisines. Ocean of Seafood is at the corner of PasarBella. It is a sushi bar which serves a whole range of fresh and high quality seasonal seafood from around the world.

The ambience is really great and cozy, with dimmed lights. It has a standing sushi counter, counter seating, and table seating. The table seating is more suited for the family or if you are with a group of friends. However, the perks of counter sitting is that you can watch the chefs slice and prepare the delicacy food!

Service wise, as i went there around 7pm on a weekend, it was quite crowded. However, the staff were quite friendly and approachable lol

Menu offering a variety of sushi, maki and sashimi!

Chawamushi @ $7.
The chawamushi has different ingredients and not as salty as other japanese restaurants. It is quite soft but a little dry though.

Spider maki (soft shell crab) @$7
This is incredibly nice! I love how crispy the soft shell crab is, rolled together with the mayonnaise and cucumber, simply delicious! lol

Pan fried Salmon head.
This salmon head is ordered from outside, not from the menu. It smelled really nice and the meat is really soft and tender.

Large oyster @ $8.
Ordered 4 of these oysters. There are small ones available too, ( 6 for $21)
The oysters are really large and fresh! Using the toothpick to separate the oyster from the shell and squeezing some lemon juice on it, then you can enjoy the oyster by slurping in your mouth . Indeed the freshest oyster i ever tried. lol

Tokujyou Chirashi (special sushi item on a rice bowl) @ $47.

This rice bowl consists a wide range of goodness, which includes a variety of sashimi (salmon, tuna, scallop), squid and rice at the bottom. The sashimi is incredibly fresh, sliced perfectly such that you can enjoy the taste and smoothness of the sashimi lol

The bill came to about $135++ for two persons.

Overall, Ocean of seafood is indeed a high end restaurant which serves for highest quality sushi and sashimi. Although it is pricey, the food and experience there is definitely worth it. lol

Recommended Dish(es):  Sashimi,seafood

Spending per head: Approximately $60(Dinner)

This was my first time at The Ship. My friends and i were walking around nex deciding a place to eat when we saw this restaurant with their student promo of various main course meal @$8.50++ ! Decided to try it as it was quite affordable too smile

The interior of the restaurant really do look like a ship and the ambience was great too lol

I ordered a Pork chop meal. It came with a starter (Bun and mushroom soup) , pork chop and a dessert (scoop of ice cream).

The mushroom soup was not bad, quite creamy and smooth too.
The pork chop was really delicious! The meat was tender and not tough, the sauce was great too smile The carrots were boiled and really soft. Their fries i feel were better than average, crispy lol

For the ice cream, there were three flavours to choose from, chocolate, strawberry and mint, Being a chocolate lover, i chose chocolate ice cream smile

Overall, the lunch was $10 with gst and service charge. Really affordable and with their high quality of food, i recommend this place for western food! Of course great ambience too tongue

Japanese buffet Smile Feb 05, 2014

Kuishin Bo is an authentic buffet restaurant which serves a wide variety of fresh japanese food including sashimi, seafood, ramen, appetisers, desserts and more.

I went to the jurong point outlet for lunch buffet on a weekday. It cost $29.90++ for adults and $16.90++ for child.
As i love sashimi and seafood, of course i took a lot of sashimi and prawns hehe. The food was really fresh and delicious!

Also, they had a tepanyaki station. The beef cubes were well marinated, soft, tender and favourful. I could easily eat many pieces! For their desserts, there is a chocolate fondue for chocolate lovers lol You can choose to dip fruits, marshmellows, pretty nice and covered with chocolate!

Overall, Kuishin Bo is the best japanese buffet restaurant i had ever been to as they serve a wide variety of food at affordable prices. Also their food was really fresh especially for the sashimi lol

Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs Smile Feb 05, 2014

Categories : American | Bars/Lounges | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

This was my first time dining at Morganfield. It is the 'Home of sticky Bones' , with their signature dish of prime pork rib slow cooked and smoked till the meat is soft and tender.

I ordered their signature dish, Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs. This dish was the most tender and succulent pork ribs cooked with bbq sauce. It was extremely flavourful and tender, really sweet and delicious!lol You can choose whether to order half/ full slab. Their half slab was really quite big! Hence sharing will be recommended if you are a girl though lol

I highly recommend Morganfield if you are a meat lover, especially for pork ribs!

Din tai fung Smile Dec 26, 2014

Categories : Dim Sum

Din Tai Fung is one of the world's famous Chinese restaurant, specializing in Chinese dishes and of course xiao long bao! Din tai fung always has a long queue especially during dinner time where you may expect to wait up to 1 hour. It is common to see many people standing outside the restaurant with a paper and pencil, filling up their orders while waiting for their seats. Many hoping that the waitress will call out their numbers so that they can finally get to have a meal in the restaurant.

I ordered the fried rice with shrimp and eggs. This is an extremely popular dish, whereby it only consists of  rice, shrimps, eggs, and spring onions. This fried rice is really delicious, tasty up till the very last grain. The rice is soft and moist, definitely not dry. The shrimps are very fresh and succulent, not those small shrimps you usually find in other fried rice dishes. The rice is fried with lots of eggs which make it extremely fragrant and all the ingredients complement well together. In addition, the dish is not very oily! smile

the steamed pork dumplings which contains minced pork wrapped in a delicate dough skin, which is then pleated, twisted at the top and steamed. The xiao long bao itself consists of a minimum of 18 exquisite folds which requires extremely great techniques and skills to master it well.

The xiao long bao skin is soft and delicate, the interior is filled with the broth which is flavourful but quite oily. The meat which makes up the filling is tender and delicious! The way to eat the xiao long bao is to dip it in soya sauce with vinegar and put the whole piece in your mouth, to savour the taste and enjoy every bite of it smile

This is indeed a delicacy and a must to order at din tai fung! One will never fails to notice this dish at every table.
