Good cafe food Smile Feb 15, 2014

Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

This was my first time at Stranger Reunion. I had heard many good reviews about this cafe, how great their buttermilk waffles and coffee! Therefore i decided to went there with my friend.

It is near Outram Park Mrt and we walked quite a distance as i think we were uncertain of how to go and took a long route. Will definitely take a bus or cab next time though!

The cafe was indeed packed with people as it was around 7.30pm. Luckily, there was a table for two. The interior of the cafe is really nice and it provide a relaxed and cozy ambience too lol Service wise, the waiter and waitress were friendly too. However, they were not wearing uniforms, therefore it was quite difficult to identify them at first.

buttermilk waffle with homemade berry compote and greek yoghurt @ $14.90.
The buttermilk waffle was extremely delicious! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. However, i do not really like the berries and yoghurt though. It made the centre of the waffle too soggy. This was because i prefer crispy waffles lol Perhaps i will order the waffle with fresh fruit and ice cream next time.

Truffle fries @ $12.90

The truffle fries were indeed tasty and delicious. However, the portion was quite big for 2 people.

Magic coffee @ $5.50. Double shots of Ristretto and Milk. Have quite a strong espresso taste with milk. The latte art was nice too!

Overall, this is a great place to chill with your friends, have good waffles and a decent cup of coffee at any time of the day! lol
Will definitely come back to try their buttermilk waffles! So far the best in town lol

Recommended Dish(es):  Buttermilk waffles

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Dinner)

12 cupcakes OK Feb 15, 2014

Categories : Desserts and Cakes

Twelve cupcakes are increasingly becoming popular throughout the years and has opened many branches islandwide!
The cupcakes cost $3 each and there are many standard flavours such as the cookies n cream, salted caramel etc.

From Top left to right: CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE, COOKIES N CREAM, CHOCOLATE CHIP
SALTED CARAMEL, RAINBOW VANILIA

Out of the many flavours, my favourite was the chocolate chocolate cupcake! It has Chocolate cream cheese on a moist
chocolate cupcake. Everything chocolate lol

The cookies n cream tasted not bad too lol However i didnt really like the salted caramel as i'm not a fan of caramel. However, caramel lovers will definitely love the taste!

Baked cheese pasta OK Feb 15, 2014

Categories : Desserts and Cakes | Burgers and Sandwiches

Pique Nique serves all day breakfast, burgers, spaghetti and dessert. This was my first time dining at Pique Nique.
The restaurant provides a relaxed and cosy ambience. lol
I decided to order a beef boloognese baked cheese pasta with tomato sauce and a poached egg on the top. Appearance wise, it looked really nice as it was served in a small pan. This dish was quite nice, however, i got quite sick of eating it after awhile, perhaps due to the 'too much of cheese taste' .

Dim sum Smile Feb 14, 2014

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Noodles | Kids-Friendly

This was my second time at tim ho wan. It serves affordable dim sum and the specialities are the BBq Pork Bun, steamed malay cake, vermicili roll with pig liver.
As i went there early (around 6pm), there was not really any queue, hence i waited less than 5 minutes for a table for two lol

I ordered the bbq pork bun for $4.50. The bun is really crispy and have a 'bolo' skin. I extremely love the crispy crust! The inside has the bbq pork filling which i find it quite sweet, but overall, its still the best bbq pork bun! lol

This is the vermicili roll with shrimp @ $5.50. This roll is smooth and soft with fresh prawns and some vegetables.

Rice with beef and fried egg @ $6. The beef was quite disappointing as i couldnt really taste the beef meat. However, when eaten together with the rice, egg and beef, it tasted not bad.

Steamed malay cake @ $3.80. This cake is really soft and fluffy with a slight sweetness in it. However, it was quite dry at the inside ccompared to the one i tried before at plaza sing :/

Overall, if you were to dine at Tim Ho Wan, be sure to order the BBq Pork buns and Steamed malay cake! lol

Recommended Dish(es):  BBQ pork bun, steamed malay cake

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Dinner)

Jap buffet OK Feb 14, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi | Buffet

This was my first time dining at Shin Minori. It is a japanese buffet style restaurant which offers a variety of food. I went with my friends for the lunch buffet which was from 11.30am to 2.30pm. The price per pax is: Adult S$32++ , Child S$22++ .

The food is great, especially the salmon sashimi. However, as there is a great demand for the sashimi, it will be better if they were more efficient in replacing more sashimi on the counter.

This is known as the maccha tofu. This is really special and is one of my favourite as it has maccha taste infused in the tofu! Recommended to try!

For the dessert, indeed they have a wide range of desserts! I love the cheesecake as it was soft and rich in cheese lol The chocolate cake was really nice too!

Recommended Dish(es):  Salmon sashimi,maccha tofu

Spending per head: Approximately $33(Lunch)
