Design wise, I think these cupcakes are definitely first-class. Lots of care is definitely taken into making the cakes look beautiful. They look too pretty to eat, in fact and I could not bear to break into them at first.

But for the taste, I honestly do feel that they are a little dry and maybe plain. Could have more flavouring inside the cupcake dough and maybe the cake could be a little bit more buttery, to improve the taste further.

The Cake in a Jar and the Cake Lollies/Fun Pops are also very cute innovations. If you want your cupcakes to be lollipop sized, I like the Cake Lollies. Pity they taste just as dry and plain as the actual cupcakes, save for the chocolate coating. And for marshmallow lovers, try their Fun Pops. I thought that they taste really good and the chocolate goes very well with the marshmallows inside.

Best Pork Cheeks Ever! Smile Sep 29, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I absolutely love the pork cheek ramen here. The texture of their pork cheeks are so soft and tender, and the flavour is simply stunning. Words really can't describe how these would taste.

As for the ramen, I love the texture too. It's firm and chewy, which is just how I enjoy my ramen. Also is not too eggy, which is good.

Last visit, had the cold ramen, and it felt a bit strange cause I'm not really used to eating cold ramen noodles. But the flavours were still definitely there... and I loved the pork cheeks and the soya-based sauce that the noodles were cooked in. Would have been nicer if it were warm though.

I must give this cupcake shop five stars for their designs and innovations. They are so cute, especially the Sesame Street designs and their Minion fondants, both of which i purchased on two different occasions. I especially fell in love with their Minion cupcake fondants. And when I brought them home, the cupcakes were so cute and adorable that I really couldn't bring myself to cut into them.

But when I finally took a forkful of these cupcakes, I was quite disappointed. The Elmo cupcake (vanilla with lychee buttercream) was rather sweet and the taste of the lychee was a little sickly for my liking. The Oscar (chocolate with vanilla bean buttercream) fared slightly better but I wish it weren't so sweet too. At least dark chocolate seemed to have been used, so that balanced out the sweet buttercream a little bit.

As for the minion cupcakes, I had the fondants on a banana cake and a strawberry cake base. To my disappointment, these were just as sweet as the Sesame street cupcakes. I could not even eat the minions, because they were made purely of icing sugar, and just a few bites of this, made me feel rather queasy.

Overall, these are not the best cupcakes I have tasted and I think they could be less sugary.

To see some photos of the cupcakes, do check out my respective blog posts. smile

I tried the cakes from this Japanese bakery shop with my friends recently and I would definitely come back again. The cakes are really light and fluffy and the flavours are also interesting yet delicious.

I had three types - the Mont Blanc, mango pie and the green tea cake. My favourite type out of the lot was probably the mango pie, because of the flaky and crispy base.

Besides the delicious cakes, I also bought two types of cookies - the walnut cookie and the sesame cookie, to bring home.

However, I must say the space at this restaurant is a little cramped if you are dining in, though - like my friends and I did that day.

Cosy cafe and peaceful ambience Smile Aug 17, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | European | Café | Pasta

This is a rather peaceful and cosy cafe, amidst the popular dining haven of East Coast Road.

I tried this place and the food is pretty tasty. Depends on what you order though. I quite enjoyed the popcorn chicken and the molten chocolate cake. This dessert is highly recommended. smile But I thought the cheesy baked Bratwurst Pasta was a little on the rich side for my liking. My companions enjoyed their pasta dishes, though.

For drinks, the cookie smoothie is good and I rather enjoyed this. It's served with an Oreo cookie on the glass, and that's quite crispy too. But I found the hot chocolate a little weak for me.
